I have two kitties and they are wonderful! Why don't you have a real one yet?

Get a real one! The shelter I volunteer at has tons of kitties for adoption.

My boys are home alone from 6:30AM till 4PM. They are very happy. Most cats sleep during the day, but when you come home they love you. Trust me, cats are very independent creatures and don't need the same type of attention that dogs do.

I've always had one, so feel free to ask anything. The moment FH and I moved in together I needed a pet. I can't live without a fuzzy creature.

Aw, kitties are a little more independent than dogs! They can deal with some alone time, esp if you have 2+

We have two kitties, and they do fine if we're gone all day, especially know that we have two. When I only had one, she would be a little upset when I came home after a 12 hour day, but after a little snuggling, she was fine.

I wouldn't recommend a dog for someone with a hectic schedule, but having a cat has been great. When I was in grad school, living 1000 miles away from the family and feeling really lonely, she was always there for me. I always told my mom that the cat was cheaper than therapy!

Re: I love my kitty

I am going to check with my local shelter this week, and pick up some info at the book store. one question, do they come already potty trained to those litter boxes.

Re: I love my kitty

Using the litter box is pretty instinctive, so most cats are fine with it or learn it from mom. The shelter should know if they're good with the litter box or not.
Good luck!

If you're getting a cat from a shelter, most of them should already know how to use it. Most cats will do it on their own.

Get 2! It's just as easy as one, and they can keep each other company while you're gone. Also, 2 cats tend to be mellower and less needy than one cat cause they tire each other out rather than relying on you for entertainment.

Having cats has changed our lives for the better and they are our children for now. They're really great to come home to and they are always there for you Plus, you'll be saving their lives!

when i had just one kitty i lived alone and was working two jobs. she must have been lonely b/c she would cry and follow me to the door every time i left. so i got another kitty and she was fine.

would you consider getting 2?
