I love my MOH!

I love my MOH!

We went to the headpiece trunk show at Bridal Reflections in Carle Place today. I went in thinking - more like knowing- I wasn't going to buy anything because the prices would be too high starting at $300 or so they said so when I made the appointment. That would have been the absolute most I would have spent. So they ask me to try on my dress to see how the pieces would look with it and I tried on a bunch of combs and tiaras. I finally found something I thought was great but when I asked the price I nearly died. It was more than twice what I wanted to spend. The designer went to use the phone. Then my MOH said she wanted me to have it so she split the cost with me and used her credit card for the deposit of half the price. I could not believe her generosity. I mean I would have looked for another piece that was less $$$ but it was one of those things that just happens. When the saleslady came back from the phone, they had knocked off $100 from it so now my MOH is spending a lil less too. Man I wish I had a picture - this thing is GORGEOUS with Australian crystals and freshwater pearls. The sample was all crystals but we photocopied it and highlighted all of the crystals we wanted to be pearls - my dress is the color 'pearl' and we thought it would be a nice tie-in.

Re: I love my MOH!

I had been there a couple of weeks ago to look for bridesmaid dresses the FIRST time and they just happened to tell me. It is a strong possibility they booked the appointments up fast. There seemed to be a lot brides there looking at the pieces and when I had tried to change the time of my appointment, there were no more slots as of last week. I am sorry you missed it. They did say that there may be another trunk show in the fall. I would call and find out. Since your wedding is in August, you would have plenty of time to order one in the fall.

That is so sweet Now if I could just get my BM a little more involved..... (there only involvement to date has been telling me what kinds of dresses they WON'T wear - ARGH )

Re: I love my MOH!

I have to say that my BP couldn't be any easier to work with. I love my friends so much and wouldn't dream of putting them in dresses that would make them unhappy for the sake of my preference. When we went the first time, we decided on Bill Levkoff 2 piece sets in Euro Navy. I only had two with me (I have 5 total) and they each chose a different set. I brought my MOH back and she chose a third set. So basically they all have the same bottom skirt with a different top. It worked out well for them because they range in size. One wanted strapless. One wanted a plunging neckline in a v-neck. One wanted a tank on top. My teenage neices will more than likely choose a spaghetti strapped dress or a strapless dress that can have straps added. They will be fitted when they get home from sleepaway camp. Everyone is happy... so far.

Re: I love my MOH!

Iti s a custom piece(a wide comb - not tiara)with Australian crystals and freshwater pearls. I tried to find it on the designers website but it isnt there. I emailed her for a picture though I doubt Ill get one. All I have is a black and white photocopy that only shows half of it. I won't get the piece for another 4 months. Sorry guys!

Yes, she is truly generous and the first thing I did when I got home was to writeher a thank you note. This headpiece was not something I could have afforded otherwise. I did not ask for her to do it, she just offered. I would have found something else to wear with no problem at all. She just wanted me to have it. Now it is time for me to think about what type of gifts I should get for the BP. That will be a challenge.

That was so sweet of her. I can almost guarantee that my MOH wouldn't do that, she is my 19 year old little sister who can't even chip in 20 bucks for our Fathers Day gift to our dad. So fat chance on her splitting that kind of $$$ with me. I guess she is a broke college kid.

OK guys I am such a bonehead and geographically challenged. I meant to say AUSTRIAN crystals not Australian. I am sure Australia has some lovely things too. A-duh.
