I Love My Wedding BUT...

I Love My Wedding BUT...

I have to admit....if I knew how crazy it was going to get and how many problems I was going to have with my family and with brides maids, not to mention all that money...I would have gotten on a plane with FH to somewhere in the Caribbean and just gotten married on a beautiful beach and been done with it.

My FSIL just got engaged and I am really trying to talk her out of the big white wedding in favor of a beach destination wedding (her FH loves me for this!!!).

Does anyone else feel this way?

I know what you're saying. I wouldn't go somewhere and elope but a few weeks ago I went through a similar thing. I did so much in like 2 months that it was just too overwhelming and I needed a break from it. I didn't want to talk about wedding planning with FH at all lol Tonight we're going to look at a DJ and it's the first thing we've done in about a month because I needed a breather. Plus since this whole wedding planning started, I've seen a side of my FMIL that I really don't like and she's making this A LOT more difficult than it needs to be.

Yes sometimes is very stressful and then family and friends always want to say something. Then the money OMG. Personally I am going crazy.

I feel this way too! We should have had a destination wedding & big honeymoon this summer. My mailman was talking to me a few weeks ago, his daughter got engaged recently and she and her FH are flying to Tahiti, getting married on the beach & they're having a wedding BBQ when they get back, she didn't want the planning.

Yup, this is exactly what I would do if I did it all over again. Sounds so nice!

I think I would have gone to Bora Bora, tied the knot and then taken a month long world cruise this August. C'est la vie!

ITA! I had no idea how many things there are to worry about!! And sometimes I think we should take the money that we are spending and just go somewhere exotic to get married and take a long honeymoon. LOL.

The day after my wedding, I was crying because that's what I should have done all along. The whole time I THOUGHT the big wedding was what I wanted but then realized after the fact that it wasn't. So I hear ya.

On the other hand, some people feel that way while they're planning because of the stress but then the day comes and it's just as magical as they planned and hoped for and it's all worth it though.

FH and I are doing what we want, how we want, when we want. Thr same way we live our lives. If anyone dose'nt agree with the way we are doing things......... all invites have a DECLINE box to check, don't come! We refuse to get stressed out with B.S. & everyones opinions. So far we enjoying the whole process. Some of our family members may disagree with us..........oh well, that's their problem not ours.

I think you are right the planning was stressful and the money, well goodness knows we could have used it in a more practical way.....
however, my feeling is this.....
I have never been married before nor has my FH. The last time I saw all my friends and family together was at my Dad's funeral 8 years ago.
I think it is money well spent to have all my family and friends in one place celebrating my new life and love with FH. Did I really need to spend $3K on the florist and worry about if the cala lillies will hang correctly in the CPs???? or did i need to pull my hair out by the roots bc people didn't RSVP on time??? .....NO....but having all my friends and family in one awesome place for one awesome night is a memory I will cherish forever, and to me, that makes all this stress, money and planning worth it.

I guess that's a good way to look at it. It's just that sometimes I really feel like I am going to have a stroke. My chest get tight and I feel like i am going to be sick. I thought it was going to be so fun to plan my wedding and some parts were but now that we're at the end, it is getting really bad.

Hang in there! I had a rough spot right about where you are now in the planning time line! It gets better! Now that my wedding is 11 days away, everything is on autopilot and your attitude will change as mine did to 'screw it' if things are not perfect. lol
I watched my sister's wedding video the other night when I was feeling overwhelmed and seeing her dance with my Dad was all I needed to tell myself I am doing the right thing planning this big hoopla-do of a wedding! It makes me think of my Mom or my elderly aunts enjoying themselves the night of my wedding and having a wonderful memory of them if heaven forbid they are not here with me this time next year, etc....ya know?
So focus on the positives say 'screw it' to the negatives and have a joyous, wonderful wedding with the love of your life, friends and family!

I don't feel this way. A destination wedding has never appealed to me ever. I want the traditional church white wedding! Also, I am not letting anyone stress me out. If they do, I don't involve them in my wedding process anymore.
