went to the dentist for a root canal--it got infected had to b rushed to emergency dental surgery to b 'undone'....delt with the infection..got the root canal REdone...almost finished with it--they need to put in the permanent filling and today i m eating a BAGEL i hear a crack and a big chunk of my TOOTH is in my hand!!!! i m gonna kill someone, not only am i in so much pain right now and i need to call the dentist to 'fix' this problem but i dont even wanna talk to this dentist b/c i feel like i keep leaving with more problems then when i went in!!!!!!

If you are in the city NYU has a great emergency dental center at 23rd street and 1st avenue.

Just an FYI for someone who has been there....it might have nothing to do with your dentist. I had root canal and about a month later half of the tooth cracked on me and I needed to get a cap done (no pain there). The dentist explained to me that most teeth that need root canal are pretty much rotted out and they are very prone to chipping. Another tooth i had root canal on did the smae thing but a year later. It usually will happen at some point with root canals.
Caps are no big deal. They shave the tooth down (which is dead already) and just cement a fake cap on top of it.....it is much easier then getting an infection.

i feel your pain! i had a TON of dental work done last year.....could it be your TEMP filling that came out? that happened to me, i freaked and it was nothing,

I went for root canal for 5 months. It's infected, its not infected, its infected, its not infected.
It was lovely.
In the end I went for an apicotomy (sp) after the regular dentist finished the root canal and there was still 'pulsing'.
After that, I'm all good. Altho, now im worried about cracking it! But I probably wont, considering I havent eaten on the left hand side of my mouth for almost a year now.
