i have posted on here i can't tell you how many times agonizing over a reception site on the water. i looked at the crescent beach club and liked it (if it was a nice day). i put a refundable deposit down because i felt the pressure. i left there with a sick stomach and very unsure (wasn't in love). the next day i called lands end and made an app. as soon as i walked into the place, i knew this was it. during the entire tour my heart was racing and i felt like crying. no glitz, very tasteful. they were so nice and friendly, not pushy at all. prices were great - cheaper than crescent. she never asked where else i was looking (crescent did -then bad mouthed the places). she was only interested in accomadating our needs. i went by myself to both these places because my FI is on a business trip and parents are on vacation. i was so excited when i got home i called everyone including my FI (in japan at 4:30 his time). i can't tell you how impressed i was and it is on the water. YIPPEE! i know i rambling, but those that have seen my previous posts know how indecisive i was. as mentioned, i have only looked at 2 places and my friends suggested that i look around some more just as a comparison - but why? i am so dead set on this place. rain or shine it will be beautiful. do you guys disagree w/ me? should i shop around some more? i really don't want to confuse myself. my FI comes back next week (after V-Day) and i am thinking of booking w/o him. he has been there 2 years ago and loves it. i feel guilty not waiting, but i am afraid all the dates will be gone. please advise! go w/ gut or keep looking?

I think you made a great decision! I felt the same way at Flowerfield (same caterer) and cancelled all of the appointments afterwards. I had looked at about 4 other places but when I walked in, I knew it was what I was looking for. Don't doubt yourself-just book it since it made you so happy!

Congratulations Dani
I don't know Land's End but I'm sure it will be great. I looked at only 3 places in total and did enough research to know we got a good price. I agree with the others that if you love a place, go for it. You can of course look at other places but but sometimes it's can be overwhelming. Congratulations, isn't it terrific when the confusion and indecision clear out and the feeling of 'This is THE place' comes in? Try to use that feeling with picking your vendors, your dress and all the other fun stuff. Enjoy!
You made a great decision!! My Fi and I felt the same way about West Lake Inn (another of Lovin' Ovens places). We went to a wedding at Lands End in October and it was fantastic!! You know its the place when you get this wonderful feeling in your gut when you walk into the place!

Land's End bride here!
Both my fiance and I had the same feeling when we walked in there: we knew that was THE place. I am getting married there in November '01. When are you getting married?

Congratulations!! It is a great feeling to walk into a place and know it is 'the one'. I found something wrong with every place and then finally found the one I booked (Carltun). I've never been to Land's End but have heard nothing but good things.
thanks for your help!

I am going to a wedding there next Friday. I will report back on how it was.
I am new to this board and would appreciate any suggestions for a reception hall on Long Island, preferably in Nassau County. We are thinking of 150 - 200 and looking for a reasonable rate ($80 -100). I would appreciate any suggestions and input.

Land's End bride here!
we haven't 'booked' yet, but pretty much a done deal - i think. it's gorgeous isn't it? my bf (i am her MOH) is getting married at flowerfields this summer (same company as lands end). i went to a wedding at flowerfields last year, the service and food was amazing- we gave the waiter a $100 tip. we are looking for summer 2002. out of curuosity, where else did you look? any thoughts on port jeff cc?
why am i doing this to myself? i am the most indecisive person, that it why i am so concerned that i only looked at 2 places. am i crazy? i just feel so lost and confused w/o help of FI and parents. AAAGGGGHH!

i have heard port jeff is beautiful. my friend got married there a few years ago (i didn't know here then) and loved it. i think i am set, or am i? should i take a look? a half hour ago i was convinced, but here comes that little indecisive devil voice inside my head.

i made a decision.....isn't 'that' funny
CONGRATS! it's really weird how we all experience something different when walking into a reception hall. for me, i just knew this was the place. loved the low key 'warm' ambience. they were doing construction in the kitchen when i went to lands end, but the place was immpecable. i am very happy for you and in no way bad mouthing the crescent. 1 of my best friends went to a wedding there last summer and said it was beautiful. so no need to be defensive 'bride'. you just got to go with your gut and i guess we both did. good luck and enjoy!

I agree. We each are looking for something different and that's the most beautiful part. How boring would it be if we all wanted the same exact thing? Goes for everything in life not just our weddings. Best wishes to all.
