I made my DIY Ring bearer pillow **pic** UPDATED with instructions
Whatta ya think?
*****UPDATE---(my half arse) INSTRUCTIONS!!*******
I kinda made it up as I went along so I dont have step by step pics. I wrote this just thinking back to what I did ..I wung it.
I did mine w/ a sewing machine but tis small enough to do by hand too.
I bought 1/2 yard of fabric at Joanns fabric. I didnt use it all but I think 1/4 yard would have been too little. (it was $10/yd so $5)
I cut a 11 x 20 inch piece and folded it (good sides together) and sewed the 2 sides completely. I sewed the third side about half way (so i could stuff it)
I sewed it so it was about 9x9. Then trimmed any edges.
Then turn it right side out and stuff with with polyfill and sew the rest of the third side up...realy stuff it into the corners ($3/bag and you will have lots left over)
For the ribbon I sewed each piece together to make a loop, but, you could just hot glue it though. I ended up hot glueing mine in the end to secure it better. (which was good b/c when I showed it to my nephew, his first instinct was to try and pull off the bow- haha)
For the bow..
I just eyeballed it so basically...
a 20 inch piece for the band around the pillow
a 16 inch for the bottom loop
a 14 inch for the top loop
and a 3 inch for the center loop
..so that they are each 1 inch smaller on each side than the previous one.
After attaching the band around the pillow..I put all the loops together THEN sewed and glued it to the pillow. (less cumbersom this way) You can hot glue the bow, but I sewed my button on since it had openings and I didnt want the glue to show through.
The ribbon I had was a double faced satin and was about $6 a spool, but I had it for other projects. You can use a single faced satin that is cheaper since yo arent really making a bow and wont see the other side. You only need about 2 yards total so you can even buy it by the yard if you want. Then the thin ribbon was cheap 99 cent ribbon. I would have used thinner ribon, but they didnt have it in my color.
They sell buckles in the bead and scrapbook section, but I didnt see any I liked so I bought a button. It was $7, but I had a 40% off coupon (thank goodness). Most were only about $1.75 - $3.
Fell free to FM me with any other ?s. It sounds harded than it really is when its all written out but it was so easy. Once I got the design down, It took about an hour and I made it while watching TV.
Good Luck!
