I've been lurking around for a few weeks now looking at everyone's gorgeous pictures! I've fallen in love with CaMacho's wedding, and seen some other beautiful ones. I met Ron last night at the East Wind Showcase...what a super nice guy!! I'm planning a Fall (Sept/Oct) 07 wedding. Looked at The carlyle on the green and StoneBridge so far, going to see Bellport Country Club, Giorgios and Atlantis Marine World this weekend. Has anyone given their FH any specific jobs to do...like book the limos or anything. I want him to be involved, but if I don't give him something tangible to do I'll just take over.
Thanks for all the great ideas so far!!!

Re: I met Ron!
Congrats and good luck!
you'll prob wind up taking over anyway, hehe.
I made FI involved in all the decision making, so we would always discuss it before deciding. He came to the reception and photo aptmts but i did most of the talking.
He did the limos, which he enjoyed. and we went together for the tuxes but he picked it out.
we did invites together but he messed up the order and had to redo them all, hehe.
however, because he's involved in all the decisions, he's very excited to see everything happen and talks details to his co-workers.

Re: I met Ron!
I gave FH two jobs.. which I ahd to nag him about every second.
He was in charge of blocking the hotel rooms and getting the info out to those who needed it and the limos.

Engagement Story:
We were out for my 'last birthday celebration' (I'm 25 now--there's no more celebrating birthdays...lol) bar hopping in Huntington. We went to a few of the smaller places and the BLue honu (killer coconut martinis and Mojitos). We were between bars, and I was ahead of everybody else, just in a rush to continue the party. Suddenly FH caught up and said 'Hey babe you know I love you right?' I said 'Yeah And?' Then he was down on his knee asking me to marry him. I was in TOTAL shock! I was laughing and crying and my friends and my sister were laughing and crying (everyone else knew it was going to happen). We've been together for a long time, and I always assumed that we would eventually get married...I've been ready for awhile. But, he never led me to believe he was saving any money (especially since he was always borrowing money from me to pay the rent--now I know why). He kept telling me that he wanted to wait till he finished his Union training. But he did it and I am ECSTATIC!

Re: I met Ron!
Congratulations! What a cute engagement story. Good luck with the planning. I gave FH several wedding planning jobs. Things that he had more interest/preference in than me. He's in charge of music, tuxes, groomsmen gifts and video. I had to nag him a bit to get things done but we are almost there. We went on a lot of appointments together though. Even if he didn't have much input, I thought it was good for him to know what was going on. HTH

Re: I met Ron!
Congrats on the engagement! Welcome aboard!
To answer your question... my FH was in charge of the priest and dj. Those were his main jobs. But he came with me for every appointment and i always chose 3 options, in which he told me what he liked versus didn't like. So he was pretty much involved with most of the wedding planning i'd say.
Definitely give your FH a few things for him to handle, to keep your insanity and to keep him involved in both you and his wedding day.

Re: I met Ron!
I think it's a good idea to give your FH tasks (with a due date!)
Here's what DH did: - Jazz Trio - Limos - Picked the cake (I picked the bakery) - Photo booth - Tuxes - Bus for guests to/from hotel to reception

Re: I met Ron!
My FH has gone to all our appointments with me so far (except the dress of course!) but mostly because he is a better negotiater than I am. His favorite thing to plan so far is the band. I think I am going to give him a break with the invites and flowers and bring my mom instead. Honestly, though, I think it is nice to plan it together because you are going to be making decisions together for the rest of your lives; might as well get used to it now!
