Is anyone else planning on DIY bouquets? I really dont want to spend so much money on having some do a bouquet for me and my BM's...I dont want anything crazy that I couldnt do myself. I just want a nice red rose bouquet...here is my question....does anyone know the requirements for keeping roses fresh? when should I start doing my bouquet if my wedding is in July? And what are the temperature requirements?
TIA Any type of advice is appreciated

Re: I might be the only one but....
Take a look at Costco or proflowers.com. I think they can make the bouquets for cheap and then they just ship them to you.

my MOH said that the little flower shops in manhattan - little korean ones that you see all over (she's korean) said that you can order a shipment of flowers from them and it's a fraction of the cost of getting flowers pretty much any where else...just thought it was worth a mention!

That is def. great to know. But what I also need to know is how to preserve them for the wedding day? When should I make my bok and how do I take care of it so it last hte day of the wedding?

I am DIY'ing ALL of our flowers!!! We get them wholesale priced as our friend owns a flower shop.
We're doing them all and leaving them in her store until our wedding. My DOC already told me that she will pick them all up on the wedding day so I won't have to worry about getting them all to the reception site.
SOOOOOOOOO much cheaper to DIY them!

Thats actually great...but you have some place to put them ...you cant keep them in a fridge or something right lol? I would love to see them once they are done. Keep me updated ok?
I'm having a small BP. 2 fg's and 2 MOH's and me. 2 best men and FH and boots for the fathers and flowers for the mother and FG baskets. It wasn't much and if you shop around you can prob find it for under 500. Burton's may be the place for you. I'm doing DIY CP's. Before you go getting silk flowers you must check out eBay. I have a link somewhere of a great guy.

Re: I might be the only one but....
I too thought about DIY'ing the bouquets. However, after reading up on some sites about the care, the prep and stuff for them, I said forget it. I rather spend $450 on personal flowers and just DIY the centerpieces. The personal flowers will be in most of the pics, but the centerpieces won't.
I'm having my bouquet, 6 BM's, 1 MOB, FG, 6GM's so you can compare and I'm pretty sure they will be nicer than anything I can come up with. Shop a bit.
BTW, I'm using Burton's.

Re: I might be the only one but....
i thought about after i went to different floral vendors and seeing the prices ~ then i decided the day of my wedding am i going to want to be putting these things together (if i did fresh flowers) or if i did fake flowers then i could prepare earlier but i found a great place and the price was great as well as her service...
