I might need some seat fillers

So, when we first got engaged we made a list of who we thought we would invite. The list was 265

Then we met with his parents & they cut alot of unneeded people off the list and the list was 220


Now after sending out our STDs & finalizing what we think is our list, we are at 173.


Our minimum is 175

How did this happen?!?!? The things that stress me!!!

well that is easy, tell his parents you have a minimum to meet... and always remember to invite 20-30% more than you expect to come.

Also, try calling your RH and talking about your minimum... I had mine put us in a smaller room with a smaller minimum before we had to change it back.

I would add the unneeded people back I guess. I have the opposite problem. The list keeps going up and it is stressing me out.

I would call the RH and see what they can do, but if they wont lower the guarantee #, dont be surprised. As for the head count, either add a few people back on that you were 'on the fence' about, or we can serve as seat fillers. Not worth getting upset over since the guarantee is going to be paid for, even if you go under.

I am in the same boat, but I really don't want to go over my minimum. I am hoping to get some chocolatey extras if I dont make it. Besides some people might want some plus ones as the date gets closer.

If we weren't date twins I would be a seat filler.

I agree with the girls about calling your RH to see what they can do... but I'd also gladly be a seat filler!!

I wouldn't automatically invite 20-30% extra. While ON AVERAGE 20% rsvp no, that can vary dramatically in individual cases. It'll all depend on your group, the date, how many OOT'ers there are, etc... you could wind up with only 5% no, which would give you a higher number attending than you want and might cost more than you budgeted.

IMO, it's not worth inviting extra people who you don't really want just to meet your minimum. Think of your minimum as a sunk cost -- it costs $XX,000 for you to have your wedding on the day/time you want at the place you want. That automatically includes up to your min guests, and you only have to pay more if you're over that number of guests. It's not such a big deal if you're under!

Kerri, Sarah told me this same thing when I was flipping out and now that I view the reception as being $XX no matter what I felt a lot better. However, I hate the idea of an empty room so I KNOW I'll be asking you girls to fill in, thats what we do for each other

Hey Kerri! We have a 200 min that we realized may be hard to meet now. I created a 'B' list with people from work... maybe you can create a list like this?

If not try to speak with the RH, maybe they will throw some extra's in?
