I may have mentioned before that one of my sidestones shifted and was annoying the hell out of me. So FH went into the city today to meet my brother by Canal Street at his jeweller to have it fixed. I made him PROMISE not to leave it there. I made him PROMISE not to have him fix it unless it was right in front of him. I made him PROMISE that he would not have it fixed there unless he felt confident that they would do a good job. I am so paranoid that if they take it from his sight, that they would switch the stones. So now I can't wear it until he comes back and I miss it. What a wack-a-do I am. Sorry ladies, I had to ramble.

Re: I miss my e-ring!
Thank you guys for the emotional support. I don't know how I would have made it without you!
Oh by the way, don't think I forgot to tell him that if he feels the need to buy ANOTHER piece of jewelry for me, that he is well within his rights to do so.

Re: I miss my e-ring!
OK I got the ring back and its still gorgeous...but... his eyes aren't as sharp as mine. He was not able to see how one of the side stones is closer to the center stone than the other. I had even called him back while he was there to tell him to make sure that they were even on both sides.
Now unless I pointed it out, noone would notice, but I notice it and it is driving me crazy. He also had it buffed because when they adjusted the setting, the platinum, being soft as it is, scratched a little. There are still hints of scratches on it and it bothers me. I was thankful and grateful that he went into the city to do this for me and I told him so but maybe I am picky.Something so expensive should be perfect. Am I wrong to be irked by this or is anyone else as obsessive as I am.

It is normal to feel the way you do. I wouldn't worry about it.

I would want the side stones as perfect as possible. That would drive me crazy.

It DOES drive me crazy. I dont think he sees it as a big of a deal as I do. Since I stare at my hand all the time, I notice everything.

It would irk me too. I am always checking my engagement ring for scratches etc. If the stones didn't match up it would definitely bother me too. It may not be noticeable to others but I would know it. Engagement rings are expensive it should we as perfect as possible. It's not like it 20 yrs old. Sorry I hope I didn't make you feel worse. I was just giving my opinion.

I am totally obsessive of my ring, always checking that everything is perfect and symmetric. I have tension mounts on the sidestones, and I always make sure those are perfectly aligned and the diamonds are set sturdy. If it bothers you, you can always bring it back. I definitely would.

It isn't that easy to bring it back. It would require one of us to take a day off (probably and should be me) because it involves going into Manhattan.
FH got the ring through a friend of his in the jewelry business and she used her connection to get the stones and the setting for us. Just as he was about to make the final purchase, the diamond guy stopped working though he finished up the ring for us. I guess we have to go to our original connection, FH's friend, and see what type of recourse we have. Personally, I think we should get another setting altogether and have the stones reset. This way, there wouldnt be too much bending of the metal. But since HE made the purchase, it is up to him.

There may be some hoops to jump through, but you'll feel better doing it. You should talk to FH. I'm sure he'll understand.
