I miss you guys, and TWOTY.
I just don't know what my problem has been of late. I have not posted, I have been running around like Pam Anderson at a washed up rock star convention, and I gained 3 pounds. I don't understand how that is possible, as I have eaten nothing but meat and cheese for almost 3 weeks now.
Perhaps it was the 8 pieces of sugar-free candy I ate yesterday. Seriously. It's the Russell Stover sugar free chocolate. Yesterday, I had toffee squares, crispy caramels (like the ******* son of the 100 Grand bar), and Peanut chewys (the red headed stepchild of the Butterfinger). This jagoff Russell Stover says that his candies have 0 carbs, because they are loaded with sugar alcohols, and they offset carbs. However, there are some disturbing gastrointestinal effects from these sugar alcohols, so you have to be careful.
So there I am, tempting fate, trying to find my critical sugar alcohol resistance level. I am walking the razor's edge of snacking, and feeling like at any moment, Dr. Robert Atkins himself will run in, slap my face, and take my candy, and then I will be left in ruins with no candy, stomach cramping, and the poops. Thankfully, this is unlikely as Dr. Atkins has passed on. However, I still tasted the danger as I pushed the envelope of faux-chocolate eating.
All that's neither here nor there. I have been such a mess the past two weeks, I don't even know where to begin. First, I am the most unorganized bride of all time. I didn't even have a list of invites. I mean, I had something, but it was more of a rudimentary series of cave drawings than a real list.
So I finally get my invites, and I like them. They're not the Tessa bells-and-whistles type invites, but Rexcraft.com ones. I'm pretty plain, and they're black and white, and I like them. However, I don't LOVE them. Part of the reason, I guess, was because I got a seal from Zazzle that I thought would be AWESOME, and it was not. Not that Zazzle was to blame- the seal came out just like the pic, but still. It looked crappy on the invites. THEN I had to find an invite place that would make those layered -paper seals with our names on them.
Why was finding these seals as complicated as performing open heart surgery on myself? I found one company, Invitation Consultants. I was happy, and there was a nice plain white and silver outlined seal they had that could be personalized.
I had two questions: What are the seals made out of. Is it matte card stock, or shiny sticker material?
Second question- is the silver border metallic silver, or more of a gray color?
I called once, and the rep said she'd call me back. She didn't. So I called the next day, and the rep also said she'd call me back.
Rep#2 calls back and says the seals are matte card-stock, and the border is metallic.
THEN Rep#1 calls back and says the seals are sticker paper and shiny, and the border is really gray.
When I finished
, I went on another all out search. I finally got them at My Gatsby, which, I have to say, was awesome, and EXTREMELY quick. I got great customer service from them, and the quality is great. Unfortunately, though, I have to assemble them myself, and the black border is a different black from my invitation. However, at this point, it is what it is, and it's going out like this.
So THEN I had to get my invite list together.
THEN I had to get the list to my MOH's mom who is calligraphying (is that even a word?) them.
THEN I had to come into town to go to Tri-county. I'm so glad I made the schlep from PA for that one. Turns out, you need a swatch from your dress to match the veil. You know, how do people know this stuff? I'm barely a woman. I have a feeling other women know this stuff.
I looked for earrings and jewelry, and really couldn't find anything. there was, however, a bride there trying on a pink faux-fur wrap for her bridesmaids. She loved it.
Honey, if you're reading, please back away from the wrap and give it a long hard look. I know we all have our own personal taste, but NO ONE has that taste. Please. Put the wrap down. It's not going to do ANYONE any favors.
So anyway, as of today, I have two months and one week left. I cannot even bring myself to sit down and make a timeline of the day. I can't even bring myself to write out a budget and what left I have to spend, because I don't want to know. And I can't even bring myself to write down everything I have left to do, because I don't want to know.
I think what finally happened is that I got burned out. I am officially burned. This hasn't happened yet, and I just have to ride it out. But how can I be expected to ride anything out without doughnuts? I ask you!
So that's it. I miss you girls- I feel like I've been away for weeks! And I am increasingly despondent over TWOTY. If you ladies are indeed going to an after party, let me know. I'll be in town, and sporting a Nicole D'Angio hair trial. Let me know!!
