i need a good seamstress....

i need a good seamstress....

Hey ladies...dont know if you remember, a little while back i posted about my dress....i went to a seamstress in manhattan who wanted to charge me 1000++ to do my dress (only for taking in and hemming) (not even including bustle) and didnt even make me feel 100% confident that what i wanted done would come out the way i would like. I left the place in tears.

My dress has a great deal of detailed beadwork on the bodice and all along the hemline of the skirt and train. The dress needs to be taken in on the bodice, spaghetti straps removed, and possibly have some sort of undergarment or corset sewn in (that will hold me in place). The whole skirt needs to be taken up as well which from what i have heard is a detailed job b/c of all the intricate beading on the bottom....and i might need a layer on the skirt removed and made into a veil (possibly).....then i will also need the bustle.

Any recommendations of a GOOD seamstress that is experienced in dealing with wedding gown alterations of this detail?? i would prefer not to go to just a regular tailor...i am really looking for someone experienced in this area that i can be confident with. Please offer me any recommendations, and reasons why you recommend would be helpful as well. I would REALLY appreciate it as i am really hoping to make the dress of my dreams work for me! TIA!

I know of one, in Babylon, I might have to call my friend for her number, she owns a store in Babylon village called Omnibus, and her name is Paula. She is actually doing one of my friends alterations on here, let me find her exact name on here and you can contact her.

She is located on Jericho Tpke in Dix Hills..FM me for directions. She will do any dress from what I understand, call her and talk to her she is really nice. I live in Baldwin and it took me 40 minutes to get to her, but her prices were worth it..

Heather, my mom knows someone who I think can do what you need! She's done all our prom dresses and stuff like that. Her daughter works at West End as the gym teacher....I can't remember her name off the top of my head, but I will ask my mom. I bet your mom probably knows her too!
