I did a lot of research on this when I was looking for mine and I settled on the Miele (blue one). But, all the models get excellent ratings. This is a very reputable company and their vacuums are terrific. Make sure you buy one with a HEPA filter!

I have the Oreck with the HEPA and it only weighs 8 lbs! THe package comes with an over the shoulder hand vac and an iron. I love it!

I have a dog, sheds like crazy... we bought 'the animal' they have it at best buy on sale for $500. It is made especially for pet hair and I have to say that i absolutely love it.

My mother has a dog that sheds and she is a neat freak. She typically vaccuums 2-3 times per day, so through the years she has gone through many vaccuums. She loves her Oreck the best. So far it has taken a lot of use and held up well.

I have the Hoover V2 Windtunnel & I LOVE LOVE it!

I have 2 cats that shed like crazy. For my shower I got a dirt Devil vision-it doesn't use bags also has a hepa filter. They first ime I used it it looke like I never vacuumed! There was so much dirt and hair it pull up I had to vacuum 3 times. Mt original was a hoover, but this Dirt Devils is over 100 times better.
