I NEED A ROOT CANAL

I was hoping I wouldn't they had me warned I might, but while at the dentist yesterday she was picking away and everything was fine, when she hit me in one spot and it hurt. So I raised my hand (not b/c I'm a dork that's what they told me to do) and she said yep you need a root canal.

I'm really nervous about it, and then the is really what I think is killing me, for the root canal, then the post, then the crown.

FH wants to know how come when we are trying to save money I manage to spend it. I wish I was spending it in a more exciting way then this.

I am so sorry. Root Canals are no fun. Make sure you get lots of sweet air and lots of novacaine.

I had my first (and only) root canal over the winter - it wasn't as bad as everyone told me it was going to be! At this point, I've only had the root canal done - no post, no crown. The dentist said that the crown isn't really necessary yet (I don't know why, but I'm trusting him).

It'll be OK - and you'll feel like a trooper when you come out of it!!!

From experience IMO, it is not nearly as bad as I thought it was going to be. I am very sensitive though and had about 7 shots of drugs, but I did not feel a thing.
Just make sure if you are uncomfortable at all, tell the dentist during it.

Also, don't wait. The longer you wait, the more chance of an infection and that would just suck!

I have had 2 root canals and I promise you they weren't sooo bad. Having wisdom teeth pulled was 10X worse! Of course I would rather be sitting on a beach sipping on a pina colada but it's not nearly as tramatic as people say it is. They'll give you lots of novicane and sweet air, you won't feel a thing. If your dentist is nice he might give you a prescription for some tylenol with codine.

I feel your pain. I needed a root canal on New Years Day this year. IT SUCKED!!!!!!! Mine was very painful since mine had developed an abscess which doesn't allowe adequate anesthesia.... I hope yours wont be as bad as mine.The other problem is that they are expensive. I hope you have good dental insurance...

I've had 2 and IMO, they were not bad. Everyone said it would hurt so much but it honestly didn't. My dentist made me watch a video before he did it and it made sense. They numb you all up so you don't feel anything and then they kill the nerve.....the nerve is obviously what causes the pain, so if it's dead, it can't hurt. The only thing that was a little sore after was the surrounding gum. I'm sure you'll be OK. But as far as $$$ goes it stinks. I have insurance, but it only paid a percentage and it adds up!!!

Root Canals aren't that bad. I had one, just tell her to put a lot of novacaine, and u won't feel a thing, i promise
