I need a VERY special shower gift...

My very good friend will be having a baby shower soon. I am usually very thoughtful and careful when I choose a gift. However, I am having trouble thinking of a great gift. I don't want to just buy something off of her registery. What did you get that really wowed you?

Mind you, I am not that crafty or artisitc. Thanks so much for all of your help! Gender of baby is unknown at this point!

Something I just LOVE is the clothesline with the little outfits attached by clothespins. I think it's just so adorable. I didn't get this, but have seen it done.

I really would have liked a full bath basket - like a tub filled with all the necessaries. I did this for my SIL and it looked really nice.

I got a really nice journal box - it's like a journal set that comes in a box so you can keep things in the box as well - I have her wristlet from the hospital, her little hat, her cord stump (gross I know but you'll see someday!), things like that. And I write in the journal a lot.

My friend got a charm bracelet I thought was really sweet. Simple - with just a little baby rattle on it, but it was sweet to know that she'd receive charms regularly as the baby grows and starts to find interests, and then it would be passed to the baby.

My fork and spoon set from Tiffany is AMAZING. But it was engraved w. initials so I got it after the baby came.

Nice pink fleecy bathrobe and slippers for the mother-to-be while she is in the hospital.

I always think the robe/slippers is nice because it is for the mom not just the baby. But I would get something for the baby too if you do that...just to even it out. I did it for one mother to be, got the robe and slippers and a nightie that snapped down the front so she could breastfeed. I also got cocoa butter *(for the stretch marks although I didn't say that's what it was for ) from The Body Shop.

Or at some hallmark stores (the crown shop stores) they have baby gifts like the 'my 1st year' calendar and a keepsake box and photo albulm.

Or fill a diaper bag or baby bath tub up with lavendar lotions and bath soaps and gels and powder for the baby. And a nice fluffy stuffed animal.
