go in, cough all over everyone in the office and maybe they'll tell you to go home, that's what I do =)

I am a NYC assistant principal and although it never looks good to take off before or after a holiday, i always tell my teachers that your health comes first.
If you have a note, i think you are fine and I dont think it would be fair to infect other people right before the holidays
Feel better and good luck!

Thats what I was thinking. Should I fax the note? or bring it in when I go? I really hate to do this because I take my reputation seriously but I neglected my health for the past week and now Im really sick. Thanks for the advice.

I know it looks bad before a holiday but if you have a note you have a note. Let me tell you, if you don't take care of bronchitis then it can turn into pneumonia and scarlet fever.

Honestly I would still go in...even with a note you are really not supposed to call in before a holiday

Your health absolutely comes first! As long as you have everything in order for a sub to run your day then I would stay in bed!

your health comes first. any supportive prinicpal would tell you that. send in the note and stay home... no point in being a martyr. my first year i went in with bronchitis for 2 days and it turned into pneumonia and i was out for a week instead of the 2 days i needed... stay home!!!

call in.....you are sick and have a note!!!! I sprained my ankle right before the Jewish holidays last year and was out for two days.....that got me almost the entire week off. If you have a note what can they say????

They should have seen you sick for the past few days. If you do decide not to go I'd fax the note. It all depends on your supervisor...you probably know how they would take it, though ,we usually think more towards the worse case. I've had bronchitis and it can get worse and can easily spread. Hope you start getting better SOON!

Honestly, when I was a teacher, I never called in sick and you know what - I should have!! It didnt make my supervisor's appreciate me any more or any less and now that i am a supervisor, if my teachers are sick, they're sick - life goes on.
I would fax the note rather than wait until Monday, but the board of ed doesnt give you a grand retirement party for working with bronchitis.
Feel better

Re: I NEED ADVICE ... I HAVE BRONCHITIS and IM A NYC TEACHER ...
Thank you everyone.
I woke up this morning and still felt horrible, coughing non stop and didn't sleep a wink. They knew how sick I've been the passed week so I called in today. I figured, it wasn't going to make or break me. I'm really sick and I knew no one would appreciate me coming in while being sick anyway. THANKS FOR THE INSIGHT. Hopefully, I made the right choice. Take Care and have a Happy Thanksgiving!
