My suggesstion would be to have ur guests send them to your home in texas straight from the store.

I know the bride usually opens the gifts at the bridal shower, but maybe the girls can have them mailed directly to your house. Or after the bridal shower, ship all gifts home.

I live in Florida and My shower was in NY, Some of my guests send the gift directly to my house from the store. Tell your mom to put a note in the invitation that as you live OOT please send the gift home...IF anything just return the gifts in NY and re buy them in Texas (I know this sound crazy, but I had to do this with my Vaccum)

Have everyone take pictures of the gifts they will give you cand set up a board with them do everyone can see some can be open there that you can take home with you and have your guest ship everything else! or you can ship everthing after but most dtores ( chains stores) can have everthing shipped to your house in Tx and it will not cost them as much!

I had a friend with the same problem. She returned some of the bigger gifts from the shower and then when she got back home she took the credit/cash and bought them at the BBB by her. The rest of the gifts she took and then when her parents went down they took some. hth

Thats what my mom and i were discussing:-/ She said to have everyone send them to my house wrapped, have them print out a picture of what they bought, and put it in the card for the day of the bridal shower, and for me to take a picture of all the unwrapped gifts awaiting my return home to open. And then this way, since i am out of town i will have more time to spend with my guests, instead of spending two hour opening gifts, i can open the cards in half the time. Is this tacky??? I dont know what else to do.

I don't think it's tacky. It sounds like a good idea...plus you get to spend time with family and friends.

Re: I NEED BRIDALSHOWER ADVICE

I had a friend go through this....
She wound up having a gift card party.

What we did, we went to BBB (Where she was registered) and we bought her a gift card. In the card we included a picture of what we were going to buy her.

So I gave her a 100.00 gift card and included a picture of her coffee pot. When she got home she went to her BBB and bought the coffee pot. I think her mom flew out and helped her.

It was also nice because she was able to personalize her thank you cards. And she was able to carry her presents home with her.

It worked out brilliantly!!!!

I live in FL too, shower will be in NY. I am in the same situation with my engagement party at the end of this month. I am putting an emply duffle bag in my carry on that I will try to stuff with as much as I can to bring home with me. I plan to ship some stuff to FL. And also I think returning and rebuying some stuff is a good idea. IMHO, I wouldn't want ALL of my gifts being shipped home to me because I like opening gifts at parties. But thats just me.

I think that is a terrific idea. It will give you more time to spend with your guests...and honestly how many people like watching someone open up gifts for an hour?
