We have been venue searching to no avail... I'm hoping somebody maybe has something I've missed because I'm getting discouraged! I do not like the traditional wedding halls ( ie Jericho Terrace, Floral Terrace, etc) they are beautiful but I originally wanted something rustic - which I've already compromised because the selection is few ( Three Village Inn, Thatched Cottage didn't appeal to me either). I have a big pet peeve about the carpeting in a lot of these places, it is something I can't seem to get past ( just a personal opinion, it is not the feel I'm going for ). We have visited the Riviera, Crest Hollow ( I attempted to give the carpeting a shot), Fox Hollow (specifically the Somerley) and Sand Castle. I personally really liked Sand Castle and feel you definitely get the most bang for your buck out of the places we saw, but FH was not sold, plus we really prefer a Saturday wedding but can't guarantee 200 ( it's possible but for the pp not a chance we're willing to take). Any suggestions ladies? Your help is appreciated!

How big is your guest list? Bc for a rustic wedding I.would suggest stewart manor country club in garden city (is really stuart manor). However the place is kinda on the small side. I would say 150 max . It is one wedding at a time too. My other suggestion for something different is the Atlantis in riverhead. You can use either the actual aquarium or them have a ball room next door. Um timperpoint country club is nice may have that vrustic feel u r looking for. If I think of more I'll def let u.know

Crashing. Definitely check out Old Field Club in East Setauket. No carpets ,very rustic vibe, and I think they needed a lower than 200 guarantee.

Re: I need everybody's help!
Thank you! We looked into Stewart Manor, we are expecting 180-200 so I don't think it would work, that's part of the reason we ruled the Riviera out as well ( they said they could accommodate 220, but it was only set up for about 140 when we went and looked a little tight). I will look into the other two you mentioned. I have seen the Atlantis, but it couldn't hurt to give it a second look. Thanks again

Angie - Old Field Club is beautiful! We're just unsure about it being a little far for people as a lot of our guests will be coming from the city ( we're still in the stage of trying to please everybody I guess lol), if we branch out further I will definitely be going to see it though!

East saucket is closer then riverhead and pretty sure timperpoint is further out too. The problem with LI is most of the stuff istout east.
Crashing, Bridgeview sounds like it might appeal to you! Definitely check it out, so gorgeous!

I had the same criteria as you when looking for a venue. My venue isn't rustic but it's not a typical hall. It's The Royalton in Roslyn. Definitely check them out. The website doesn't do it justice but they have some good pics on Facebook.
Thanks, I'll check it out! I keep thinking about the Sand Castle, but don't want to push it on him if he's not crazy about it, I know he'd say whatever I want but it doesn't feel right

my venue, The Metropolitan, isn't rustic either but it's not a typical catering hall. No carpeting.. all hard wood and marble in the entry. Also we looked at Chateau at Coindre Hall. I think it was all hard wood and there's a pretty garden terrace in the middle. It's 'mansion style' so the dining room and dancing room are attached but separate.

If you're looking for something a-typical check out Bourne Mansion. It's very modern, no carpet (that was a big thing for me too), and very different. Not at all a typical catering hall. They're also catered by Lessings so you know the food will be great! Another Lessings venue you may wanna check out is Coindre Hall.. I didn't like it because dinner and dancing are in separate rooms, but if that doesn't bother you then definitely check it out. Good luck!

Not sure if it's too far for you but if you want rustic- Hallockville Farm Museum in Jamesport. The barn only holds 99 so if you have a larger guestlist, you will have to rent a tent also. There is a site fee and then you have to bring everything in, so it gets pretty pricey. Same with any of the vineyards on the North Fork (I think Rafael is the exception with their in house catering). Vineyard Caterers is not a real vineyard and is more like a standard catering hall. And has carpet.
Also check out Snapper Inn in Oakdale- it has a beautiful pavilion (could definitely do a rustic theme) and even the event room is nice!
