I need favors HELP!

I need favors HELP!

So initially I wanted to have chocolate menus for our wedding favors, but I thought it might be more cost effective to get cute fall leaf soaps for everyone. Then my mom suggested that her and I make the soaps b/c the ones we were seeing online were so tiny and chinsey looking for quite a bit of money. But we've come to realize that we just don't have the time for that. SO, now upon lookiing back into the chocolate menu idea I see that the places I'm interested in want a small fortune (it's coming out to about $1,450.00 for 125 menus). Does anyone know of a really good chocolatier who's reasonably priced, or a place where I can get specialty soaps that are a nice size (like 2.5-3' x 2.5-3' in size)? Or any other cute favor suggestions? I guess in the end I may have to bite the bullet and just pay the money, but if I can do something really cute for a little less that would be great!

where are you located? I know of a chocolate shop in glen cove by the college i went to (C.W. Post) that's called Lazars Chocolate Shop. I also know that there was/or still is I haven't been in a while a chocolate shop in Port Jeff with really delicious chocolates. I think if you go to the chocolate shop, you will be able to cut a deal or compare prices. You can always go to the shop and ask what they charge and then say 'ohh well there is this place that will do it for X amount but they are all the way in the city so I was trying to find something more local'. Sometimes they budge when they think that their prices aren't competitive enough. THey can't be making THAT much money right now since the economy isn't that good. OHhh and try some bakeries that make cookies and chocolates. There is one in Rocky Point. You can always give that a try, maybe they will be cheaper than a chocolate shop. Or....you can make them yourself...just get the mold and all that jazz but that seems time consuming. Good Luck!

Do you want to just get nice organic soaps to give people? Those can be found for under $2 a bar if you buy in bulk (and by bar, I mean a normal size bath bar). I don't know if that really goes with your theme though.

There's a Lazar's chocolate that the previous poster mentioned in Great Neck as well. I've never been in there, though.

I live in Queens, but am in LI constantly for the wedding especially since our hall is way out in Setauket so none of those areas are too far. So please let me know the names of the other shops. Thanks!!!

Organic soaps would be cool, but I wanted something that was leaf shaped to go with our fall theme. I'm okay if they're organic, or not. The issue is all of the leaf shaped soaps I find are so tiny that they look chinsy, you know?

I live in queens, and I can help you make the soaps or make them for you if you want.

Do you like these? They even come in a really lovely box.

I also found some other leaf favors that look really beautiful. I can't vouge for how they would be in person, but they're inexpensive enough that you could order one of each and choose.

Yeah the top soaps were the ones I was originally interested in, but after looking at their size I realized that they're really tiny so I didn't want to do those. If I'm going to do soaps, I'd rater that they be at least 3'-3.5' on each side, you know? Thanks though!!

Go to etsy.com and you can place an alchemy listing where vendors 'bid' on your project.

it's not soap, but I found fall themed favors
I LOVE THIS PLACE

as for the choc menu... you're going to pay a lot of $$ for that... I'll talk to my nail tech tomorrow, she does choc stuff on the side (so do I but never did a menu) I'll see if she can do them or knows someone that can.

There is also a Lazar's Chocolate in Bayside in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center. Don't know prices, though. HTH
