FH called JA's to change wedding date to the following year. OK the banquet manager had no problem and was nice about it. She however said that now they are charging us the price for 2007. We booked in 2004 for our origional date in 2006, when we booked they gave us 2004 prices. When we booked we SPECIFICALY asked this same banquet manager if there was any price change if we changed the date. She told us there wouldnt be. She said no matter what date we picked we would get charged rates from the year we booked in. Now they want to charge us 2007 prices for the new date because they are under new managment and no longer charge the rate of the year you book in but for the year of the affair. So now instead of paying $127.50pp I would be paying 141.72pp. Part of me thinks this is totaly wrong, because we didn not book when they had this new management and we specifically asked if the price would change if we changed the date. Is it worth me making a big deal about???? I have to initial the contract with the new price & date and fax it back to them. But I dont know what I should do. Should I call and tell them that it's not my problem that they changed management and they need to not go against what was said??? I need some feed back on this one. Thank you everyone

Re: I need feedback on this......
I think you should call and raise hell! If they told you one thing, they should honor it! I don't know how much money you've given them but if your wedding is now not until 2007, you have a lot of time to find another place and you should tell them that if they're not going to honor your original price, you will do exactly that - find another venue!!

Unless your original contract clearly states that there will be no price increase in case of a date change, you are S.O.L. Good luck and see what you can do tho.

Re: I need feedback on this......
i would definately question it... i wouldn't go all bridezilla on them, just because you still want them to provide you a good service... maybe have your parents go crazy... but i definately think that is way wrong of them, and i would honestly think of finding another place if they did that to me and still wouldnt honor their original prices... that is a huge price difference and there are a ton of places out there that are a lot less expensive and just as nice!!!
i hope this helps :)

Re: I need feedback on this......
also, i remember that my BM told us that even though the contract says one thing about loosing our deposit...according to suffolk county law we can get our full deposit back up to 90 days before our date... i would also look into that so you dont loose any $$

Re: I need feedback on this......
Tell her to AT LEAST meet you half way.
There seems to be a $14.22 price difference.
Tell her that you understand the present situation, but at the time you signed your ORIGINAL contract, you were told that you would get 04 prices. Tell her you are NOT willing to go any higher than $7 more per person.
If she absolutely will NOT budge, tell her that you want a WHOLE LOT of extras for the additional $14.22. Maybe more seafood in your cocktail hour, more desserts for the end of the night...bottles of wine on each table. The 'extras' are VERY EASY for a reception hall to kick in!!!

Re: I need feedback on this......
No not that much we only put $1500 down. I think I'm gonna make some calls tommorow to find out about getting it all back and then send them a certified letter canceling the affair. I'm getting this feeling that our wedding is just not ment to be there. So we are prob. gonna start looking again for someplace nice on the water for less than that price. Thanks everyone for the advice.
Take Care, Gloria

I think you should give them a chance to respond! Talk to them about your concerns. and maybe they will be willing to do something for you. Good Luck!

The Swan CLub is on Roslyn Harbor (overlooking) and I am paying 65pp for a Sunday in July. For a Saturday night its 90pp...that seems like a lot of money for JA's
