I need hair recommendations...

Right now, I have Pauline booked for my hair/makeup for my wedding in August. The only thing is that my trial with her isn't until I'm up on Long Island next which won't be until July. So it's cutting really close to my wedding. Anyway, I want to have backups in case I don't like her or what she does with me. So if anyone knows of anyone else they could recommend that does natural looking makeup and really good updo's I'd really appreciate it. That way I have more than I trial when I'm up there next, and then I can decide. Thanks again!

For our wedding...

we used Kristen from Enchante Salon & Day Spa in Smithtown. When she was recommended to me by someone else on this board, she was with another salon. Anyway, my mother and I went for a trial on Mother`s Day, and Kristen made everything seem so 'easy.' She just went through a casual hair trial with me, and just talked with my mom about what would work best for her. I never did a makeup trial with her, because I just felt that confident she would do a great job, which she did. My mother did end up having a full and complete hair and makeup trial closer to our wedding, and was happy with her results. My sister-in-law (matron-of-honor), and niece (flowergirl-age 4 1/2), live out of state and never got to have trials at all with Kristen. But that didn`t matter either, because they both turned out amazing. We couldn`t believe how anxious my niece was to have her hair done by 'Miss Kristen' the day of the wedding .. she never likes to sit and be fussed over like that! The makeup was light, not heavy, and very natural looking, which was what we all wanted. I have very curly hair, which can be tricky to work with sometimes, but Kristen worked well with it and used a lot less pins to hold it together than I thought it would have taken. About three weeks prior to the wedding, I had Kristen cut my hair for the first time, just to clean up the ends and even things up .. and I have been using her for cuts ever since. Kel

Hi!! How are you doing? I haven't spoken to you in ages. :) Any way, this is a rather dumb question...how far is Smithtown from Glen Cove? Thanks! I know that you recommended her to me before, but I was so busy I didn't get a chance to ask? I she pretty reasonable as well??? Thanks- Nancy

We loved our hair/makeup team! (m)

We worked with Dina & Heather - they work at a salon in Rocky Point, but freelance on the side. Dina did our trials at the shop and then she & Heather came to our hotel on the morning of the wedding. We all loved they way we looked and their prices were incredibly reasonable! Dina's cell # is 516-448-7865. They came all the way to Danford's on Labor Day Weekend at 6AM for our wedding. The charge for an updo was $50 (and my MOH has hair down to her butt!) Dina did my hair and makeup for $50 - because I was the bride. All she asked was that I provide the makeup so I went to clinique and got what I needed - which I preferred - and that we bring the hot rollers. Otherwise they came well prepared with styling products, etc. Everyone looked great and we were ready in plenty of time. I've even been told that I looked like Elizabeth Hurley in some pictures - wishful thinking, but nice to hear! If you call her, tell her Michele & Maryann say hi!
