I need help

I need help

Ok, I have mentioned this before on some post. My parents are divorced and sometimes are on good terms depending on dads behavior. I want to dance with my mom at my wedding also, I know my dad will have something to say about this. I am closer to her than my dad. I feel mom's should be recognized also besides the fathers at the wedding. Afterall he gets to walk me down the aisle, lift my veil and dance with me while the moms stand aside. What should I do, or how should I interpret both songs at the wedding. I don't want to tell my dad because it will cause drama. I was thinking of not telling him at all.

Please help, I need advise.

How about having two different songs to dance to with them? Maybe one song cutting off earlier and blending into the next?

I don't think you need to tell him. Especially if he is going to make comments about it and hurt your feelings. It is between you and your mom-nothing to do with him, don't let it get ruined

I want to dance with both parents too. Although my parents aren't divorced, I still think my dad won't be happy about sharing the spotlight. I'm thinking of doing one song and having my mom cut in in the middle of it for the second half. The other option is do a song for your mom and a second one for your dad -- but that will be a lot of dancing
I don't think it matters either way - I think moms are important and they get left out of this big day so we should include them as much as we want to! I'm even having both parents walk me down the aisle.

I was thinking about dancing with my mom as well because I am closer with her then my father, and yes the father's do get to do a lot more than the mother's.

If I were you I would definitely do it! If your father is the type of person to get mad at the wedding, then maybe you should tell him before hand to avoid drama on your wedding day. Or you can tell your DJ to do the mother/daughter dance and maybe make it seem like it was your DJ's idea.

Good Luck!!

I was thinking of doing two separate songs blending in, and my dad does love to cause drama.

I agree-just do it and tell him nothing. It's really not his business.

Sounds like a great plan. If the DJ announces it mid-song or beforehand, I'm sure your dad will be too busy in the moment to bring up any drama. You're the one that has to be happy in the end. Do You!

I don't see why he would get so upset. It's not like you're DITCHING his song for hers. It is a touchy subject, though. It's funny... I was thinking of cutting into my dad's song to dance with my mom in the interest of time, but my dad wants the whole time. . It's sweet. So, now they're each getting their own song. Maybe you can just spring it on everyone the day of, and the DJ can say, 'As a surprise dedication to her mom, the bride would like to dance with her mother to ______ as a thank you for always being there for her.' Or something cheesy like that.

Re: I need help

I danced with my mom and dad and they are still married. I didn't tell anyone about it.

I danced with dad to a song he picked (Daddy's Little Girl), then DH danced with his mom, then I danced with my mom to In My Daughter's Eyes.

I would just do it and not tell anyone.

We also gave roses to both moms during the reception to thank them for everything, so that may be something to consider.....

Thanks girls for all of your help. Regardless if I tell him or not, he will still make comments to everyone about it, including his patients because he always wants attention. Thanks again.
