DH needs to go to an orthopedic surgeon. A lot are covered by our insurance, but I don't know what kind of background they have. Does anyone know where I could look to find out more information about doctors?
Does anyone have one to recommend?
Thanks so much

Re: I need help finding a doctor
My ex is an orthopaedic surgeon at Stony Brook hospital. Many of the insurance company sites list where the surgeons went to med school and how long they have been practicing. Good luck! I think the teaching hospitals are most current on the latest developments, of which I think there are many in that field.

So you think we would be better off going to a doctor that is in a hospital?
Oscar, we would go to Nassau or Suffolk if they doctor has a good reputation

Re: I need help finding a doctor
I work in a physical therapy office, so pretty much every patient we see comes from an orthopedic surgeon.
I have seen the work of many Orthos firsthand, and have many that I can recommend.
ALSO, some MDs have specialties - for example, if I had a knee problem, I wouldn't necessarily go to the same doc I'd go to for a shoulder problem.
What body part, and where do you live? I have tons of info.
Hope he's OK!!!

Re: I need help finding a doctor
Thanks everyone for your responses. I am going to look into these doctors.
Since he has already had surgery, some doctors don't want to see him.
Thanks again.

Dr. D'Agostino, he's on Community drive in Manhasset. He did my brother and father's knees, and my cousin who's a nurse used his practice for her ankle surgery.
