I need help from my NUTSO FH

I need help from my NUTSO FH

My FH who I adore is driving me nuts! He says that because I won't let him see my dress that I can't go with him to pick out a tux. Now let me just explain that he is a jeans & t-shirt man. NEVER dresses up (unless weddings & the odd romantic dinner) I also told him how my bridesmaids are wearing blue. So I told him the guys have to kind of match with the girls. He doesn't that like that idea. He said that he'll pick out whatever he wants he's praying that he can find a green tux. YES YOU HEARD ME A GREEN TUX I'm almost tempted to show him a photo just so I can shop with him. I was thinking of showing him any dress but he know that I took pics of me in my dress. What do I do

LOL! Sounds like he may just be trying to get a reaction from you. Do they even MAKE a green tux??

Our Bestman, usher and RB are wearing black tuxes, with the boutenniere (spelling?) matching the color of the BMs dress, which is pink. Although that may change since my FH doesn't think men should ever be made to wear anything pink.

A green tux...................still trying to picture it, and can't get those old 70s tuxes that were funky colors with big ruffled shirts out of my head.

Maybe you can send a man you trust with him...like his father, your father...anyone who hates the color green will do!?

My FH is killing me with the tuxes as well. I think it's the only thing they feel they truly have power over! Good luck, I'm sure he won't wear a green tux!

If it were me, I would show him my dress before letting him choose his own tuxedos. That is not something I want to be surprised with on the wedding day.

I feel your pain tracy...

Don't worry, no self respecting tuxedo store has a green tux, nor would they let a groom rent it for fear that he might tell people where he got it. I wouldn't worry, he's just busting chops. I agree with the theory that its the only thing that they feel they have control over

My FI felt the same way... even though I've tried to show him a picture of my dress, he won't look. He wants to be surprised. (Considering he's only seen me dressed up once for my prom back in 1995. LOL!!! Anyway, I did go with him, but we also had a few other guys go too. We picked everything out together. (Though, I had more of an opinion than he did!) We did end up getting something we both liked. My FI didn't know where the place was, and I told him I had to be there to give the wedding information to the clerk. He doesn't keep track of all the details. So, that worked out well. You can try that! I really don't think he wants a green tux... maybe he's just trying to worry you. That's something my FI would say, just to scare me. You can also tell him that you want to make sure that his tuxes and the groomsmens tuxes match. Good luck!

My best friend got married two years ago, her FH wanted to get vests with the looney tunes on them!
Now, I would have personally had a heart attack but her reaction was ' I don't care what's on the vests as long as he shows up!'
I am not going to be part of my FH choice in tuxes. He can pick whatever he feels comfortable in.

About the green tuxedo... I also find it hard to believe he could even find a green one!!! But maybe if you know what store he will be going to you can speak to the salesperson in advance! Kind of cut him off at the pass, so to speak!
Good luck and try to trust him, it's his wedding too!

My FH started out saying the same thing. You picked out your dress and I have no say in it so why can't I do the same. In the end he asked me to go with him

I don't think you could get a green tux unless they went to a halloween costume shop. FYI - they do have blue ones that would match the BMs dresses. Try to steer him away from stores that have blue ones (unless that won't bother you).

I never laughed so hard! Thanks ladies for making me feel better. I'm sure when it comes down to it I'll be there. Especially seeing that 2 of our Groomsmen live in Ireland so I'm going to have to have all the info. It's jst things like that can drive me crazy & I just need to vent! THANKS AGAIN!!

Re: Be Forewarned

I second Aug9's comments - retro tuxedos are the hottest things right now. They are very much in style for PROMS!! And while it might really really cool to wear an abomination when your 17, I don't think you will find it funny at the aisle.

But everyone is probably right - he is probably just joking around about getting an off color one - but if he doesn't have a great sense of style he could still pick something that is not complimentary to your gown, your decor, your wedding's formality.

Mine is threatening a full white tux w. thick navy stripes. I think this is a common joke. He will end up going and asking the man at the counter for the most traditional type tux and that is what he'll show up in! Believe me - deep down he doesn't want to do the wrong thing - he's just teasing you!

mine wouldnt let me go too, he said, did I pick your dress?? He wound up with a zoot suit 1930's thing but the pin stripes are very light and it has tails and a tie instead of a bow tie but it actually is elegant looking, but I had no say either

Re: MY HUSBAND PICKED OUT HIS TUX & ?

All I did is tell him a picture of the bridemaids dresses and he took it from there. I did not know what he and his guys were wearing util the day I showed up in church. He did a nice job and he and the guys looked great! I just have to ask one question? Why would any FH need a picture of the wedding gown???? If you are wearing white, white is white...can anyone clear that up for me? Thanks

DO NOT show him a picture of your dress. The first time he sees it should be when he sees his beautiful bride walking down that aisle!!! And I doubt he'll attempt the green tuxes, you have a while to talk him out of it!

My FH said the SAME thing, 'I can't see your dress, you can't see my tux!' I told him he must be joking and there is no way he is going to do the tuxs himself, he is COLOR BLIND TOO. I think they do it just to get a rise out of us...I think in the end he will either ask for your help or you will just go together, don't worry about it until it gets closer. The things we worry about wind up being so trivial in the end when you look back.

By the way, does anyone recommend a tux place, Suffolk/Centereach area?

Thanks!

If he really wont give on letting you go, you should send one of your bridesmaids with the guys. I did this for my friends wedding last year (believe it or not, she did not want to see his tux before the wedding either), and it worked out fine (after I had to yell at them like they were kids, as they were giddy, running around the store yelling about powder blue tuxes). On second thought, send 2 bridesmaids. I could have used some backup!

show him a pic of a dress-not your dress. yes its kind of lying, but for a good cause! the guy should never see the girls dress period!
