I need HELP from someone handy, Please!!!!

I'm trying to remove a ceiling hook from my dining room. The previous owner had the chain from her chandelier hung from it, but mine doesn't need it.

I unscrewed the hook but now there is a screw hanging down from the ceiling. I can't seem to turn it to unscrew it and I can't seem to tap it up into the ceiling. I don't want to pull on it to pull it out b/c I don't want a larger hole in the ceiling (than the screw's hole).

Does anyone know how I can remove the screw??? I can't find anything online about how to!!! THANKS!!!

I think you should be able to screw the screw back up in the ceiling + leave it there so that it is out of the way and you can hardwire in your light fixture. I'm not certain though... you can always ask the friendly folks at HD or Lowes....or call the place where you bought your new fixture.

Good luck and LMK what you decide to do. I'm now curious....

Thanks for the reply! Well, we can screw the new fixture in, and we have. There was a hook a few inches away so that the old lady could swag the chain of her chandelier. We got the hook part of that out but not the screw. I think I'm gonna have to try to ask my handy cousin, who is away right now, or go to Home Depot. Thanks again!
