Ok ladies, i'm going to be asking a lot of questions. I know everyone is very kind and helpful here so i'm hopeing everyone can help me. I'm clueless about what i should be doing. I don't even know what i'm supposed to be doing! So here we go....
First... How do i go about blocking rooms for OOTG? Does any financial responsibility fall on me? Also, what hotels should i look at? My ceremony is in Glen Cove and the reception is at The Watermill. Thank you for help

I blocked rooms at the Harrison House in Glen Cove. You can block 10 rooms with out a guarantee. That is what I did and as they fill up I block more. Just call and ask for Betty Jackson. We went and toured the hotel before we booked. They have been very pleasant to work with so far.

I did not have to make any fiancial obligation. We were able to reserve 10 rooms at each hotel. They will release them if they are not booked by a certain time. Call the hotel directly when trying to set this up.

I blocked rooms at the Huntington Hilton...I could block 10 rooms at a time without financial obligation.

I blocked rooms for 3 days and there is no financial obligation.
Check out this site. It helped me to find hotels in the area and I eliminated them based on location, amenities (restaurant/bar) and price.
Good luck. If you want I have a spread sheet I set up with questions to ask the hotels.
FYI ask for the group sales manager don’t talk to the people at the desk!

I think maybe you should block rooms closer to the reception hall not the ceremony since that is where they will be going after the reception- smithtown to glen cove is a hike for OOT's after a party in my opinion. I blocked 15 rooms for both the day and day before my wedding about 10 minutes away from the reception site for the guest, I have a lot of OOT and didnt want them to get lost or drive after drinking etc. and NO obligation on my part, in fact look and ask for deals if all my rooms get booked the day of the wedding they will provide a 15 passenger van to pick up guest from the reception to go to the hotel, I am also having my after party at the hotel too- I had to pay 100 bucks to have the bar and bartender to serve till 4 am. check these things out too.
