I need help - Our Kitty has dandruff!!!!

she has white flakes all over her fur!!!!! i guess it is from the heat always being on and drying her skin out??

is there anything we can do for her? we have been brushing her religiously once a day. she only eats dry food - could that be part of the problem too??

My kitty has noticeable dander in the winter - from the dry heat...and when she's nervous. It could also be lack of oils - maybe you could add an oil to her food? i don't think it's anything to be too concerned about, but I'm sure your vet could give you some helpful hints.

I was always told to add some oil to their food too if you see this problem.

so funny, i noticed the same thing on my black & white cat today - i was thinking it is bc it is so dry...

what kind of oil?

There is special nutritional oil you can find at a good pet store. I was also told you could add Olive Oil! My cats aren't Italian though- so they aren't a huge fan of Olive Oil (I know you want to add a good oil, not an unhealthy oil like peanut)..

thanks everyone!!

i will try putting some olive oil in her food. she is so picky, she may not like it. she is the only animal i know who will only eat her own food - she hates table food, milk, kitty snacks - anything that isn't her dry friskies she won't eat.

This weather can cause dry skin.

OMG! DH and I were talking about one of our cats and his dandruff. I will try feeding him a bit of oil, but won't the oil upset his stomach? My mother suggested giving him a bath (yeah right!). Maybe I will just go to the pet store tomorrow and see what they have.

I have three cats and they go through this every winter. We go to the Petland Discounts and get Linatone. It is a daily fatty acid supplement. I am sure it works just like oil. My cats don't really love it but they will eat it .
