I can't decide between Jamaica (Negril) and Aruba for our Honeymoon. I am just soooo torn.
If any of you girls have been to either or both, can you please post what you like/disliked about it??
Would really be a HUGE help, TIA!!!!!

I didn't really like Jamaica. Most of the resorts are all inclusive which is good because I didn't feel safe at all leaving the resort.
I loved Aruba and felt that it was a much nicer island (it's not as pretty as Jamaica) but the beaches are really nice, it never rains and you can go all around the island.

I actually loved and felt safe both places....FH and I have been to Jamaica twice and Aruba once....I think Jamaica has more to do at night, and most all-inclusive hotels have buses with guides that will go out with you at night. Tough choice......good luck!!

I liked Aruba a little better. I felt it a little more upscale. I did all inclusive at both. The food is much better in Aruba and I like the casino nightlife as opposed to the cheesy resort shows.

I was in Jamaica when I was really young so I don't remember much except that it was sort of unsafe leaving the resort....but I am sure that depends where in Jamaica you go.
FH and I went to Aruba 2 summers ago and LOVED it. We stayed in The Occidental Grande which is one of the few all inclusive places in Aruba. It was such a beautiful and safe island. The weather is perfect also....it like never rains!

I have been to a lot of islands but never Jamaica but I have to say Aruba was my favorite.
It depends on what you are looking for. There are two all inclusive hotels on Aruba but so many good restaurants to choose from that you don't need to take an AI package if you don't want to.
It was safe and clean. Night life is a little quiet but it is there. Late dinners, hotel bars and casinos. You don't feel like the island shuts down at 10pm but it is not crazy clubs or partying.

I honymooned in Negril and loved it! I got a little sick from the high altitute when we went to Blue mountain but thats about it. People where friendly, the service at our hotel was good (not great but good). We stayed at Riu Negril.
May I throw in a 3rd choice? How about Puerto Rico, the outer Island has really romantic places (bed and breakfasts) that you can stay at, not too expensive and you can drive everywhere.

Although Jamaica is a visually beautiful place, I would stay away. We took a cruise last year which stopped there. When we got off the boat we were held behind gates, and their were armed guards with machine guns. We were warned over and over again by the cruise ship to make sure no one tired to sneak drugs into our belongings. Fh and I didn't feel safe there.
For our HM we are going to Aruba, I haven't been there but the state department says its safe, and its one of the safest islands in Caribbean.

We did not like Aruba at all. FM me if u want some details. We were VERY glad that we had a 2 week HM (1 in Aruba and 1 in Disney); otherwise we would have been super disappointed.

Ive heard great things about Aruba. I considered it at one point. I also considered Jamaica too. When I told my g-ma I was considering Jamaica, she said 'isnt that where people go for spring break?' I started researching and read about alot of vendors on the beach, parties on the beach and people smoking pot, etc - so I nixxed it. This is just my opinion and I have never been there....and I am sure many many people will tell you it is a beautiful place and that they loved it. Just do your research and use trip advisor...I love that website!

I would pick Aruba over Jamaica. Jamaica is a prettier island than Aruba, but I think that and the fact that it is a shorter flight to Jamaica are it's only advantages. Aruba is far more safe, lots of food options on the island so you don't have to do an all inclusive and it is below the hurricane belt and it hardly ever rains. The vendors in Jamaica can be very aggressive, something I did not experience at all in Aruba. Overall, I think Aruba is the better choice.
