I need help with the wording of an invitation-for a friend

Hello, I have been married almost 10 months already! I can't believe it. Anyway, a co-worker of mine explained her situation to me and I am asking for help for her on here. I hope I am getting her story straight and I hope someone can help. She has a son who had a small, quickly planned reception for his wedding due to a serious illness in the family. He and his wife would now like to have a second reception to include more people, but do not want people to feel as though they have to get a second gift. Any ideas for the wording on the invitation?

Maybe they can ask for donations instead? That way people who want to give still can but nobody is pressured to...something like:

'If you feel inclined to give, please donate to X charity in lieu of traditional gifts'

My parents attended a second reception after a destination wedding they'd also attended, and this issue was addressed on the 2nd invitation. Not positive of wording, but general idea was something like, 'Please know that the most heartfelt gift you can give us is the simple honor of your presence.'

Thanks! I will pass these on. Any other suggestions are appreciated as well.
