Hi! Congrats on your engagement! I got engaged the day before you, on 6/4/04!
I haven't been to either the Fountainhead or the North Ritz Club yet, but one of my good friends is currently in the last stages of planning her wedding at the North Ritz - it's in 3 weeks. I know that she has been very happy with their service, and that the place is beautiful!
Hope this helps.

Hi and Congrats!
I haven't been to FountainHead but I went to a wedding at NRC. I posted a review on a thread 'Have you Been to a Wedding at?' and gave a review on this. I thought NRC was beautiful and the service was phenomenal. I will bump the thread for you so that you can read it.

I really like the fountinhead, the owner of fountinhead also is the same owner I think of Glen Island Harbor Club which is newer. I'm not sure of the difference in price though. I also know someone who is having their reception at Glen Island Harbor club, it's supposed to be beautiful. I knew someone too who had theirs at the Fountinhead and it was great!

Thank you so much ladies!!! Glen Island wanted 155 (not including gratuity and tax) for a saturday night, Fountainhead was $110. Both are owned by the same people. Glen Island has the great water view but a small cocktail room. I hope I make up my mind soon so I can at least cross one thing off my list of to-dos!

I haven't been to NRC but I went to the Fountainhead last September and I thought it was really nice- they did a good job. The couple had their wedding in the chapel area and they set up the altar under a canopy-type thing and hung flowers all around- it was beautiful! The chapel had a skylight and the day was so beautiful (early Sept) and the sun just came beaming down and it looked so nice. The reception room was very nice as well. The food was really good too, especially liked the dessert! Hope this helps.

I am not a fan of Fountainhead maybe because in college we had our sorority semi-formals there so it is hard to think of it as a wedding place - but that is just me.

I got married at NRC and it is a wonderful place. They were great to deal with, food was terrific...almost 2 years later and people still say great things about my wedding there. FM if you wnat any info about NRC. I booked during the early construction of what is now NRC and I will say they came thru on everything they promised and from what I hear they get better every month!!!

Re: I need honest opinions about FOUNTAINHEAD & NRC

I've been to weddings at both; my cousin got married at Fountainhead in August 2003 (the day after the blackout, in fact!), and my best friend got married at NRC in October 2003.

They were both very nice places, but I am partial to NRC. Here are my impressions of both:

--The cocktail hour room at Fontainhead is much more impressive (the atrium).
--I did not like at Fountainhead that there were lights in the ballroom around the walls and in the ceiling that changed color all night (they would fade from red to green to yellow, that sort of thing). I didn't think it fit in with an elegant wedding.
--Fountainhead has more than one event at a time, if that's a concern for you.
--Overall I think NRC is more elegant.
--I liked the food better at NRC. At Fountainhead, when you ordered the steak, they didn't ask how you wanted it cooked. They just brought dishes out and put them down in front of everyone. My FH's steak was VERY well done and he sent it back. Not a big deal, they brought a new (rarer) one pretty quickly, but I just thought it was weird.

That's all I can think of - hope some of this info helps!

I have never been to Fountainhead, but obviously I'm partial to NR because I'm getting married ther. Every time we've dealt with the has been wonderful. Check out the NRC thread for more opinions and info.

I haven't attended a wedding at either, but checked out both when shopping for my hall....
Fountainhead...was nice and all...but the banquet manager was so not nice...kinda like a snobby salesmen...which turned me off about the place, and when he showed me the price for a saturday nite in may...i was like thats too much for what ur giving me....( other halls doubled my cocktail hour compaired to Ftnhead....they offered me 5 cocktail tables, while others doubled that)

NRC, I was really impressed, wanted to book them but still had 2 more places to visit...
I ended up booking Crest Hollow, but NRC is definetly my 2nd choice...

Good Luck & Congrats!

I am partial to the NRC as well bc I got married there but I also looked at the Fountainhead and have been to a wedding there and I personally wasn't too crazy about the main ballroom. I loved the Fountainhead's vienesse hour however.

The NRC exceeded my expectations. They were sooo accomodating and people raved about the place. The food and service were excellent as well.
