I need hugs...

Hi all... It's not that big of a deal but with all the stress of planning a wedding ... now my bridal party, moh and mom are not working the way they 'want' to or 'suppose' to in planning the bridal shower that my mom just went ahead and told me all about it....

What I'm left with? I am planning the whole bridal shower on my own now.... I want to cry. Everything always falls on me and I was feeling so good b/c for once, I was going to enjoy someone doing something for me - let alone a surprise. My mom keeps telling me 'oh well if you were home like brides normally are when their getting married then we would be able to work on this better - or if you had waited 2 years instead of 1 year - we'd have more time - so you are going to have to just take initiative.' I told her to forgive me when I lash out at her b/c I'm stressed and her response was, 'what the heck are you stressed for?'
So it all *****...

So here I go... with another stress load!

oh man! so sorry to hear this!! i think it's completely unfair that you have to plan this, and i don't think it's fair for you to be stressed or told that you dont' have anything to be stressed about!!! have you tried talking to the moh and bridal party, others besides your mom?

if it makes you feel any better, i live here and i still had to plan my entire shower! we are all down and stressed at times.... i think it is just the nature of weddings... everything tends to be emotional and stressful... lots of people are involved and lots of money is being spent! vent away...

Aww. Im so sorry to hear this. I'm sure you heard every excuse in the world, so I can only imagine how you feel. It isn't fair that you have to plan your own shower. Every bride deserves a bridal shower. I really hope everything works out for you. If not, we are all here to help you out.

Alot of us girls on this site (including myself) vent about the 'secret' of their shower being spilled, meanwhile we should all be really lucky we are even getting one! Im so sorry sweetie. I hope your BP pulls through.

I am sorry you're going through this! It's ashame that the women you have picked to stand by you cannot even help plan your shower. I know it stinks, but try to make the most of it!

For once, I wanted to feel pampered, like someone cared about my day as much as I do, but the reality is (at least for me) if I don't do it myself, it will never get done. I've always taken care of myself, so I shouldn't have expected my wedding to be any different.

That's why I love this site - the support you get here is amazing. It makes me feel like I am not planning alone.

Anyone have suggestions for places to have a shower? I am looking into restaurants and I am getting quotes of $25-75/ per person. What do you think of that? I am looking for places in the city... and I want to make it fun with drinks and all that jazz but it seems to get pricey sometimes. What are your thoughts?

That's horrible, you shouldn't have to plan you're own shower!!!!! That makes me really upset, and I don't even know you!!

Hopefully your mom and BP will come to their senses and do the right thing!!

A lot of girls on this site recommend Alice's Tea Cup in the city but's not a drinky drink place. I am looking into my favorite restuarants in Queens to see if they have reasonable rates for a private room - maybe you can check out some of your favorite places?

I am so sorry you have to plan your own shower. That is horrible I am also so sorry that your mom is so unsympathetic (most non-brides have no idea what goes into planning a wedding now-a-days). to you.
