I need motivation

Every sunday I say how the diet and exercise is going to start on Monday...well Monday is here and I don't really want to go to the gym but I am. Now the problem comes with the rest of the week. I never go back. I am so unhappy with myself. I really need to get in shape but I can never stick to it becuae I am so lazy. Please help me with some motivation and any tips and/or ideas that can keep me motivated. Thanks girls

I feel everyone is on that same boat - especially when first starting out the routuine.

I myself am starting back up today with the gym routine because I have been slack for a few weeks. I feel like you need to get over what I call the '2 week hump' - this goes for both diet and for exercise. Whenever I start a diet, I feel the first 2 weeks are always the hardest, but if after the 2 weeks, are over successfully, I look back and think 'that really was hard' and I am more likely to stick to it.

i am the same way!! i have been trying to help stay motivated by writing down what i did at the gym that day (i.e. 30 min treadmill intervals = 3 miles; abs; arms) in my planner. i then see if i can 'beat' my last entry- can i go longer or do the same time but get more miles? i try to FORCE myself to go 3 or 4 times that first week so that way when i look at my planner i feel like i have done so good the week prior that i need to keep it up.

when that doesn't work i have my FH ask me if i plan on going to the gym so i can fit in my wedding dress (ps i told him to say this- he isn't mean and doesn't put me down)

my method isn't great because i still have to fight myself to go to the gym- i am motivated by results and i am not seeing them yet so i often get discouraged and have to battle that

I find I'm more likely to go if I have a workout partner. Otherwise I'm like ugh I don't wanna go alone. Find a friend to go with you. You can motivate each other.

Re: I need motivation

I just got a burst of motivation a week ago when I hit my highest weight EVER! It's sad that's what I needed to get a kick in the arse.

I started south beach the same day and it's been a week now and lost 5 lbs. I get motivated by results...so I know I'll have a harder time staying focused when the weightloss slows down.

I plan to go dress shopping in June so that's my motivation. Plus, my bridal party are thin!

i agree with jessie about the 2 week hump. Once you start going and it becomes part of your routine, it makes it a lot easier! You'll have more energy and feel really good - makes you want to go back. Plus, when ppl start noticing, its really motivating.

have you gone dress shopping yet? I didn't want to start til I lost a few lbs, plus my wedding is a year and 9 months away, so i told myself that i wont try on a gown til at least june. I went to visit my mom this weekend and she wanted to go to david's bridal just to start shopping and have a lil fun. Once i saw what i looked like in the dresses - omggggggg - now I just want to lose so much weight lol
