Ok, so FH and I have a mutual friend who we really want to invite to the wedding. We are not inviting our friends with guests unless they are engaged or married. Our friend has a girlfriend that I am friends with, but I'm not that close to invite her to our wedding. I would feel awful inviting our friend and his girlfriend and not inviting our other guests with their boyfriends or girlfriends. What do you think we should do? FH and I were thinking of not inviting him at all. I don't know what to do.

I personally feel that if there's someone imporant enough in your life that you want to invite them to the wedding and they're with someone long enough who you know well enough that you could invite them by name (as in, not '& guest') and it wouldn't be weird, it would be rude to invite the friend without their S.O.
I also think that just because it creates difficulty with your guest policy, the friend shouldn't be elimnated from your guest list.
SO, I think you should invite them.

I would probably invite him and his gf. Especially since you have met her and are friendly. Chances are, if you invite him without her, he won't come and it will ruin the small friendship you have with her.

I would invite the friend. But I would invite the girlfriend as well. I think it is a bit weird to leave out a significant other...especially one you consider a friend. This is just my opinion.
