I am booked with a photographer I really love. His work looks fantastic. However, I found out he does not use an assistant. I asked him how he works without one and he replied 'I use stationary lights, and my camera also has its own light'. I am concerned because I never heard of this before. Every wedding I have ever been to has had at least a second guy running around with the big set of lights to hold behind every picture. Has anyone else ever heard of a photographer not using or needing an assistant? He has been in business for about 30 years. We are also getting an all digital album, I don't know if this matters. Help! I am very nervous about this. Should I be?? Thanks so much!

sorry, i don't think so either. have you seen his work? if so and you love it, then he must not need a light to produce beautiful pics.

I don't think it's necessary either. My FSIL's photographer didn't use an assistant... her pictures came out great.
For your own piece of mind, you can go back to look at the pictures he took without an assistant. If you still like them... then you have nothing to worry about.

only one of the 12 photographers I looked at had an assistant. Hope that helps!
