My registry is really, really long. (we are inviting about 380 to the wedding, so that does excuse some of it)
However, FH & I do not have anything, and we really do need everything. However, I'm trying to clean out my registry a bit, so I have some questions. Plus I don't really know a whole lot about cookware and the like...so I'm not really sure about certain things.
1) How many place settings do I really need? I can't see FH & I having HUGE parties in the next couple of years, but after that, yes I can see us having really big family gatherings.
2) Do I need both a covered and an open vegetable bowl? Which one is better?
3) How many Highballs & Old Fashioned Glasses do you think is appropriate?
4) Is there a difference between an Oval Dish and an Oval 'Rim' Dish?
5) What is a Dutch Oven? Do I need one?
6) Is a Casserole cooking pot thing the same as a Crockpot? What would I do with a 'Covererd Round Casserole'?
7) Does the Magic Bullet really work? Is it worth it?
8) Is a Garlic Press necessary? Is an egg slicer necessary?
9) What is a jelly roll pan? Couldn't I just use a cookie sheet if I decided to make jelly rolls?
10) What is a mattress pad used for? Does it make the bed more comfy?
Thanks so much! Sorry it's long

Re: I need registry help like whoaaaa
1) How many place settings do I really need? I can't see FH & I having HUGE parties in the next couple of years, but after that, yes I can see us having really big family gatherings. **Most people register for 8 or 12. I did 12 for fine china and 8 for everyday. It's also nice to have extra pieces in case things break.
2) Do I need both a covered and an open vegetable bowl? Which one is better? **One has a lid and one doesn't
3) How many Highballs & Old Fashioned Glasses do you think is appropriate? **8 of each is fine
4) Is there a difference between an Oval Dish and an Oval 'Rim' Dish? **Probably just a scooped rim or something, not sure
5) What is a Dutch Oven? Do I need one? **A dutch oven is a very heavy iron casserole dish that can stand extremely high temperatures. You don't NEED one.
6) Is a Casserole cooking pot thing the same as a Crockpot? What would I do with a 'Covererd Round Casserole'? **No, they're not the same. A casserole dish is like a baking dish, just very deep. Covered means it has a cover.
7) Does the Magic Bullet really work? Is it worth it? **YES!!!!!!! I LOVE MINE!!!!!!
8) Is a Garlic Press necessary? Is an egg slicer necessary? **Eh, I don't have either and I do just fine.
9) What is a jelly roll pan? Couldn't I just use a cookie sheet if I decided to make jelly rolls? **It's basically the same as a cookie sheet
10) What is a mattress pad used for? Does it make the bed more comfy? **It's a pad that goes on top of the mattress, but under the sheets. They make the bed MUCH more comfy so you don't feel the springs in your back, lol.

Re: I need registry help like whoaaaa
I can ans some of these for you
1)How many place settings do I really need? I can't see FH & I having HUGE parties in the next couple of years, but after that, yes I can see us having really big family gatherings.
Get at least 8 - 12 place settings. More if you are expecting to have very large dinner parties
2) Do I need both a covered and an open vegetable bowl? Which one is better?
You can use both- if its part of a set I would want both
3) How many Highballs & Old Fashioned Glasses do you think is appropriate?
Again between 8-12
4) Is there a difference between an Oval Dish and an Oval 'Rim' Dish?
that I dont know
5) What is a Dutch Oven? Do I need one? Its usually used for slow cooking like for stews or pot roast
6) Is a Casserole cooking pot thing the same as a Crockpot? What would I do with a 'Covererd Round Casserole'?
Casserole pan can be used for alot of things, baking, casseroles, Mac and cheese etc. A crockpot is a electric slow cooker- defiantly get that, I love my crock pot
7) Does the Magic Bullet really work? Is it worth it? dont know but I want to try it also
8) Is a Garlic Press necessary? Is an egg slicer necessary? no and no- I neve have used either ofthem
9) What is a jelly roll pan? Couldn't I just use a cookie sheet if I decided to make jelly rolls?
Dont know what that is
10) What is a mattress pad used for? Does it make the bed more comfy?
Mattres pad are used to protect the mattress and is used under the sheets
i hope I was able to ans some of your questions

Re: I need registry help like whoaaaa
only have two answers...
garlic press... yes its necessary to me. The smaller the garlic, the stronger it is, so its better for flavors etc
jelly roll pan... you dont need one if you will never make a jelly roll but no, it is not the same as a cookie sheet. you CAN however use it as a cookie sheet, just not the other way around

1) How many place settings do I really need? I can't see FH & I having HUGE parties in the next couple of years, but after that, yes I can see us having really big family gatherings. **we registered for 12 for fine china & 6 for everyday
2) Do I need both a covered and an open vegetable bowl? Which one is better? **a covered bowl comes in useful on holiday. when one dish may be ready a little earlier then another & you want to keep it warm.
3) How many Highballs & Old Fashioned Glasses do you think is appropriate? **we registered for 12 glasses that we would use with our fancy china. for everyday glasses we have a set that came from Macys Cellar collection. they came boxed with 6 in a box.
4) Is there a difference between an Oval Dish and an Oval 'Rim' Dish? **you would use an oval rim dish for soup so it doesn't splash out when you are carrying it.
**my friend has one & swears by it
8) Is a Garlic Press necessary? Is an egg slicer necessary? **i got FH a garlic press as a stocking stuffer one Christmas & he has never used it. nah you don't need an egg slicer, a knife does the job.
9) What is a jelly roll pan? Couldn't I just use a cookie sheet if I decided to make jelly rolls? **the same as a cookie sheet
10) What is a mattress pad used for? Does it make the bed more comfy? **its an additional very think mattress like item that goes on top of the main mattress. you can buy a mattress with an attached pillow top.

I'm sorry , but I have to answer question 5'
'What is a dutch oven'-
This is when your FH farts under the covers and holds the covers over your head. PLEASE tell me someone else gets these!
ETA: Garlic presses are good, as far as place settings, I am clueless too.

I can't see FH & I having HUGE parties in the next couple of years, but after that, yes I can see us having really big family gatherings.
we did 16... we entertain a TON and we are not doing china so i thought that was ok to ask for!
2) Do I need both a covered and an open vegetable bowl? Which one is better?
i think that is personal preference. I would use both for different things, so i would do one of each!
3) How many Highballs & Old Fashioned Glasses do you think is appropriate?
8... but it all depends how many you think you would need at once!
4) Is there a difference between an Oval Dish and an Oval 'Rim' Dish?
maybe just the way it looks....
5) What is a Dutch Oven? Do I need one?
you don't NEED one! but if you are planning to make alot of soups and things that will cook on the stove for hours, it is supposed to distribute the heat the best for those items so why not!
6) Is a Casserole cooking pot thing the same as a Crockpot? What would I do with a 'Covererd Round Casserole'?
crockpot = slow cooker... not the same as casserole!
7) Does the Magic Bullet really work? Is it worth it?
haha... couldn't tell you... didnt register. i have a mini chopper, and asked for a food processor and a blender, soi think that covers it!
8) Is a Garlic Press necessary? Is an egg slicer necessary?
i personally use my garlic press all the time, but if you don't mind chopping garlic or putting it in chopper than you dont have to get one.... have an egg slicer and use it once a year... i will always have one, but i guess you can live with out it, haha
9) What is a jelly roll pan? Couldn't I just use a cookie sheet if I decided to make jelly rolls? yes you can!
10) What is a mattress pad used for? Does it make the bed more comfy? it protects the mattress (think sweat going through the sheets, etc and going on your mattress). you can't clean you mattress, but you can clean a mattress pad! you need one!
Thanks so much! Sorry it's long

Re: I need registry help like whoaaaa
I'll try to answer what I can!!!
1) How many place settings do I really need? I can't see FH & I having HUGE parties in the next couple of years, but after that, yes I can see us having really big family gatherings. We are registered for 12...we definitely don't even have the space for 10 in our apt, but one day I would like to host the holidays and our family is WELL over 20 when we all get together...I figured I can't register for 20 settings, but I'll register for like half now and then down the road maybe we'll buy some more.
3) How many Highballs & Old Fashioned Glasses do you think is appropriate? I think you should have one of each for each place setting...but I have no idea because we're not getting them.
6) Is a Casserole cooking pot thing the same as a Crockpot? What would I do with a 'Covererd Round Casserole'? You can use a casserole to bake things in the oven...its definitely not the same as a crockpot, and you definitely want both.
7) Does the Magic Bullet really work? Is it worth it? I would just get an actual food processor...FILs have a magic bullet and it really didn't impress me (and I was OBSESSED w/the infomercials lol)
8) Is a Garlic Press necessary? Is an egg slicer necessary? I am not registered for either. How often will I really use them??
Sorry I couldn't answer the rest...I'm just as clueless as you are!!

1) How many place settings do I really need? I can't see FH & I having HUGE parties in the next couple of years, but after that, yes I can see us having really big family gatherings. You should register for 12 of your fine china. and at least 8 of your everyday. Even though you won't entertain now, when you do you will have to go out and buy new place settings. Obviously you need to have the same amount of silverware.
2) Do I need both a covered and an open vegetable bowl? Which one is better? IMO you do not need an open and covered. I'd get the covered b/c you can always turn it into an uncovered.
3) How many Highballs & Old Fashioned Glasses do you think is appropriate? Same amount as place setting. I'd say 12
4) Is there a difference between an Oval Dish and an Oval 'Rim' Dish? No idea
5) What is a Dutch Oven? Do I need one? I'm not sure if I know what this is....
6) Is a Casserole cooking pot thing the same as a Crockpot? What would I do with a 'Covererd Round Casserole'? Casserole is not the same as a crockpot. You can make roasted potatoes, mac and cheese in a casserole. Get the uncovered, if the recipe calls for covered you can use tin foil to make a tent. 7) Does the Magic Bullet really work? Is it worth it? NO! It does not work! I begged my mom for one when I moved into my apt and it *****! Get a real food processor. 8) Is a Garlic Press necessary? Is an egg slicer necessary? No and No. 9) What is a jelly roll pan? Couldn't I just use a cookie sheet if I decided to make jelly rolls? Cookie sheet is fine.
10) What is a mattress pad used for? Does it make the bed more comfy?
A mattress pad protects the bed. Yes you need one. They have some that offer additional cushion, but not all do.

1) How many place settings do I really need? I can't see FH & I having HUGE parties in the next couple of years, but after that, yes I can see us having really big family gatherings.
i didnt do fine china, but our everyday settings are nice-i actually got 16, but only because if we ever have fh fam and my fam over at the same time, there are 14 of us, plus any future significant others...or if any break..so i needed to have a lot
2) Do I need both a covered and an open vegetable bowl? Which one is better?
ummm i got corningware and serving bowls..i dunno
3) How many Highballs & Old Fashioned Glasses do you think is appropriate?
didnt register for these
4) Is there a difference between an Oval Dish and an Oval 'Rim' Dish?
no clue
5) What is a Dutch Oven? Do I need one?
hmmm
6) Is a Casserole cooking pot thing the same as a Crockpot? What would I do with a 'Covererd Round Casserole'?
i dont think they're the same-but a crockpot is amazing-i use them all the time, and it makes life so easy
7) Does the Magic Bullet really work? Is it worth it?
my mom loves her
8) Is a Garlic Press necessary? Is an egg slicer necessary?
don't really think so
9) What is a jelly roll pan? Couldn't I just use a cookie sheet if I decided to make jelly rolls?
to me, yes..but only because i make texas sheet cake and it needs to be made in a jelly roll pan-a cookie sheet is too shallow and a reg. baking dish is too deep
10) What is a mattress pad used for? Does it make the bed more comfy?
