i need #'s for outdoor music...

hey ladies, i just booked Flowerfield for OCtber 8th this year (I cant beleive it !!!)

well we're having the ceremony outside (weather permitting!!!) and i'd like some ideas for music...I MUST MUST MUST have the traditional here comes the bride....one of you told me about the harp which sounds good, but is it loud enough to be heard by everyone ?? how much does a little quartet go for ? i really dont wanna spend too much ! thanks !!

A quartet, form what I've researched, goes for about $500 for the ceremony. Plus travel in some cases.

FLOWERS: We also went to see the Milleridge Florist to see what the centerpieces that are included are like. My fsil was a florist for 13 years so we brought her along to give us her take on things. I had heard on this board that the Milleridge Florist was over priced but let me tell you, they are not overpriced at all. I don't know where people got that idea. My Fsil was impressed by the freshness of the flowers, they talked abut where they order their flowers from and all the other things that I would never have thought about. They spent 1 1/2 hour with us talking about diffferent options. I don't really know what I want as a bouquet, so they made a bouquet to show me possibilities, which was really nice casue I really don't get much of a feel for things from just looking at pictures. They were so professional and honest, even my fsil was impressed. And to top it all off, they gave me the flowers he'd used as an example (easily $75-100 worth of flowers) to take home.

The harp is loud enough. The ceremony was out by the water and it was still loud. I don't have the number with me, but the name is Merry Miller Entertainment. She's in NYC. It wasn't cheap ($400, for ceremony & cocktail hr.), But I'm so glad I had it. It brings a romantic feel to the event. Everyone loved it.

I found the number. Her name is Merry Miller, from Merry Miller Entertainment, 212-598-4360. She was great. She didn't stop once.

Not sure about the tulle b/c I was in the Carriage House.....

I used East Coast for my June 4th wedding. They were incredible!!!!! Most of my guests are still talking about them. Everyone said they were the best band they've seen!!!! Try them they're great and they really get everyone up and dancing. My guests loved them!!!!!

i would love to look into a string quartet also ! hey i think 400 is very reasonable, since having a band is 5,000 !!! and this is for less time but its even more classy !!! thanks ladies !!

I had the same problem.. after digging around I found it.. 212-9619114

I have gotten dresses there to wear to formal events such as weddings. They have a large selection and great prices. They do have a room with bridal dresses, but it is not full service. You buy the dress off the rack, and there really is no help. I suggest you bring someone with you to help you in and out of the gowns. The dressing room is small and only has a few stalls, so there is usually a line. If you are just trying on to get a feel for what styles look good on you, it might be worth the trip. If you are a small size and want a specific style, I suggest you call and ask first. I would not go out of my way to go there for a bridal gown.

I can see both sides... I work a 9 hour day and my employer doesn't give me any lunch, I'm on my own so the argument that they are with you for a long time and working hard just doesn't cut it. We all do that in our jobs.

As for the other vendors..I believe that if they are there for 5 hours or less you should not have to feed them a full meal. There should be something small (cocktail hour type food) for them to snack on during their break, but I don't think a full meal is necessary.

As for tips..I am tipping only those vendors who work for someone else such as the limo driver. My photographers work for themselves so I do not feel the need to tip them.

I got the cd last week and I was blown away! My fiance and I just keep replaying it, it's absolutely beautiful!!!!

the owner of this magazine invited me to join the chat board and has wanted more vendors to participate to offer advice and help out (not to solicit). He has actually told me that he appreciates the way I participate and wished more vendors would do so (as we used to have before it became apparant that sometimes their efforts are not appreciated.) Believe me, I do not depend on this board for business (I'm so busy I can hardly keep up!) but rather as a break and to help out (which I enjoy.) The intent is always good natured and not self promoting.

I am seriously thinking of booking them, but if you read the other posts, I just found out that the price I was given was higher than others...This, of course, makes me wary of hiring them...But I do looooove the way they sound!

We had looked seriously at the Thatched Cottage for our wedding. Several people I spoke to had very good things to say about it. They all said that the place is beautiful (we also fell in love with it!) and the food was very good. Sounds like a good choice, but a bit expensive, although you get TONS of food. Good Luck.
