I went to Crest Hollow last night and LOVED IT!!! Here's my dilemma....we want to have a outdoor cocktail hour, the only time that would work would be 8:30, as my church can not have a cermony any earlier than 4pm.
My questions are these - 1) What do we think of a wedding (the Sunday of Labor Day weekend) that goes from 8:30pm-1:30am? 2) If church is from 5-6, will guests who aren't involved with pictures mind having a hour to a hour and a half between ceremony and reception?
I welcome all feedback!! Thanks ladies!!!

Re: I need some advice/opinions....
My guests will have at least 2 - 2 1/2 hrs in between, to be honest, I don't really care about their opinions, its my wedding so they will have to wait ( i know a little bridezilla!) But my mother is having some people back to the house and a bunch of others said they are going back to the hotel bar.
As far as labor day weekend goes, I think that is a fine time bc people will have off the next day. Just make sure to send out STD bc thats a holiday weekend and a lot of people travel.

ITA with Christine. If people didn't have off I would have been against it.

Re: I need some advice/opinions....
since it is the day before labor day i am sure no one will have a problem with the wedding being 8:30-1:30.
as for the time between the ceremony & reception, everyone will view this in a different way. people who live in the area will probally go to the ceremony in regular clothes & then go home & get ready. as far as out of town guests they will probally expect someone in your family to invite them to their house. or atleast thats how my family will work out time in between ceremony & reception.

I think 8:30-1:30 is fine...The gap isnt that big. How far away is the church from the RH?

the only concern I would have is that people might be hungry at that time. Since the ceremony is around dinner time.

Re: I need some advice/opinions....
My reception is at crest hollow as well and I had a similar concern with the time between ceremony and reception. My church is an hour away from the hall though so a gap works out. My mom always says people hate a long gap between the 2 but honestly if its what you have to do its what you have to do. You may have less people at the ceremony but the people that are closest to you will go, gap or not. Did you ask them at crest hollow about pictures on the grounds at that time? My concern was that if my CH isnt until 8, then my pictures on the grounds will all be in the dark. I definitely dont want to take them beforehand. Im just wondering if you thought of that and asked them. Otherwise Im gonna have to call them and see how this usually works.

thats actually a pretty short gap. I wouldn't worry. Also most people will have off for Labor Day so if the wedding ends late thats fine!

Re: I need some advice/opinions....
I'm getting married in Sept, so it will be light out until at least 6:30/7. I would definitly ask them what they do in a case like yours. They have to have some sort of adjustment they make.

Sorry...ladies and gentleman
So just to update, my mom put the brakes on this 8:30 thing and wants it to be at 6...we might end up missing some of the cocktail hour....but mom and dad are gracious enough to foot the bill so I have to go along with it!!

Re: I need some advice/opinions....
Hey date twin. I think it is a good idea for you to make it earlier. Some people are not able to stay up until 1:30
Just so you know, on our date it will almost be a new moon.
Sunset starts at 7:21 p.m. and it should be mostly dark at 7:49 p.m.
Imagine - your reception ends @ 1:30, most people will leave early, and you and FH probably have to stay another hour to wrap things up and make sure you have everything. Not going to make for much of a wedding night.
FH and I are getting married at our RH and doing all photos beforehand. I have a 6:00 ceremony, cocktail hour immediately following....
