I need some input....

I need some input....

Everyone keeps bugging me about having a shower for me already! Now my sister tells me that my mom wants to invite people to the shower that aren't invited to the wedding and she wants my opinion. Is that good 'etiquette'? It would probably be some of my mom's friends, but I'm not totally sure.

I wish my sister just wouldn't tell me anything!! And now she's asking me where I want to have it!?!! I'm not supposed to know ANYTHING about it!!

Anyway, I'd appreciate some input about inviting people to the shower that aren't invited to the wedding. Thanks!

That is BAD ettiquette. You can not invite people to the shower who will not be invited to the wedding. If you do that it looks like you are just inviting them for a gift, but they're not good enough to attend the wedding.

ETS: Just my opinion, but it's WAY too early to have shower. If your mom wants to host an e-party, that's fine, but your shower should be a couple of months, 1-3, before your wedding.

You can't invite people to the shower that aren't invited to the wedding. Its just rude, and poor etiquette. Its like saying, your good enough to come to this small party and give me a gift, but not good enough to watch me get married and come to my big, fancy party.

Tell your sister that she should discuss all details with your FH. He will know what you want or if not, he can fish it out of you. I think that is fair.

I dont think that is is a very good idea to invite people who will not be invited to the wedding. when wedding time rolls around there may be some hurt feelings.

Thanks. I thought it was a bad idea also.

Maybe I should explain a little further- It's going to be a small wedding (maybe 70 people) and we've made that clear to everyone. So my mom's friends already know. I don't know if that makes a difference.

No offense, but I don't think it matters if the wedding is small or not. If people not invited wish to give you a gift that that's great, but inviting them to the shower only is like 'asking' for a gift. I just don't think that's right.
