I need some job quitting advice!!

Ok, I have never really quit a job, on the spot. I need to quit my current job, tomorrow as my new one is ready to go. How should I do it?? I feel kinda bad not being able to give them notice, but they have been awful liars to me over tha five months I have been there, and things with this new job happened rather quickly. Should I just say I quit and leave?? I wrote up a really nice letter explaining things and how I need to resign immediately, should I give them that and just leave at the end of the day?? I can't believe I am sitting here stressing about quitting a job that I will never see the people again!! These people are really nasty and once I say I am leaving will turn into the Devil, so I am thinking just handing them the letter and walking out so I don't have to hear any crap. Does that sound good?? Arghh, why do I make things sooo difficult for myself!!

ETA- I do not nor will I ever use these people as a reference in the future, so I don't need to play nicey nice!!

Ok, I, too, worked in hell for quite some time, and I decided that the best thing to do was to hand my letter over and walk out. I knew if I stayed, it wouldn't be pretty. I also knew that had I given proper notice, then I would have put up with hell for two weeks. This was for a school. I gave them my letter the last week of school (but it was a bording school that was 12 months, so technically, I wouldn't have had to give them two weeks, since my two weeks would have been a vacation between tri-mesters.) I say give it and walk out. Especially if you don't need the reference.

Thanks Rachel, I think thats what I am going to do. My DH said to put a sign on my back that says I Quit and walk out the door.

I agree with Rachel. I would hand them the letter, and walk out.

I think you should take over the PA system and play 'Take This Job and Shove It.'

Quitting's not easy. I wish I had some real advice.

I would say definitely give them a note at the beginning of the day, and just pack up all your things throughout the day and thats it. If you feel like you are getting too much grief from everyone, then just leave..
As long as you dont need them for a reference, i wouldn't worry about it too much!
