You all... ever since I got engaged I've been eating like I'm on death row and it's my last dang meal. I needed start eating better before I got engaged... and now it's just worse!!
No way I'm even stepping INTO a dress shop before I lose at least 20 lbs., and my plan is to start looking for my dress in March 2009.
I plan to join a gym/personal trainer in the fall.. but when the junk food craving strikes I need some good substitutes... so please... what do you all substitute for 'bad' food... my weaknesses are chips, anything salty with dip and I'll eat it all day.

Re: I need some motivation... and some help!
Windy, I know exactly what your going through, but I guess we just have to get to the point where we say enough is enough! This is why I am going to just try on a dress on Sunday. I am going to try on dress and realize how beautiful and healthy I want to look on my wedding day. Not too long ago for prom I dropped 20 lbs in no time, by the time prom rolled around the dress was too big. I really wish that we all lived closer in proximity together so that we could meet up and go to WW meetings or exercise together. Losing weight can be a very lonely experience and that's why we often fail at it. I really feel your pain, I know exactly how you feel...Maybe, as corny as this sounds we could start a goal of the week, in terms of weight loss, wedding planning etc. or everyday in a thread will all just post what activities we have done and what we have eaten and hopefully garner the support of each other. It's a lot easier to go of course when you think that no one notices or cares. We will all figure something out...

I like the goal of the week idea! Whether it has to do with weight loss or otherwise, I think that's fabulous....!! Yeah, I'm pretty corny too, but I've learned to embrace it!

In my book, corny is a good thing. The goal of the week is a great idea. If you dont make specific goals, time just goes by so fast and nothing important gets accomplished (at least thats my life ). Maybe...2 lbs a week or so? Thats a pretty healthy amount to lose a weak.

Pam your expertise in this area would be greatly appreciated. I was just brainstorming and thinking if tomorrow we can all compile a list a simple yet healthy mini goals. For example, Drink at least 8 glasses of water, take a multivitamin, and things of that nature. It's just that my own knowledge of this is quite limited!

Ruffles makes Light potato chips- tastes just like the real thing. It's very low in fat and calories. Also if your craving something sweet try chocolate chip vita muffins!

I keep almonds and raisins at my desk. After just a few I am full. I also buy all the Skinny Cow Ice Cream, they are soooo good.
Also, I allow myself one cookie a day. I cannot live without it!

Windy, i know exactly how you feel. Ever since i've gotten engaged this past April, I've gained about 8 lbs! I usually do good during the week but its the weekends that kill me!
I got to stop as well! I like the support idea..
I don't think i'll go dress shopping until a year or so before my wedding though... i just hope i fit into my MOH dress for my sister's wedding upcoming in december!

Re: I need some motivation... and some help!
Thanks for all your support. I am a BIG BIG BIG supporter of Weight Watchers, but to save for the wedding I'll be doing an at home program.
This is what I need... I need someone I can FM (I actually don't mind posting it, but I don't want this to be ALL ABOUT ME) my weekly journal to, so that I'm accountable to someone else (besides myself) for my progress.. that works for me. I will be starting as of 11:59 PM July 19, 2008. I am going to sign on the WW online so that I'll have an idea of what my points are... I just need a virtual meeting of sorts so if anyone can help me with that it would be great.

Re: I need some motivation... and some help!
If thats what you need Windy we are here for you! I think we need a huge pow-wow to see how this is gonna work, does LIW have like a chat room that we could all sign into at a certain time and have like a preliminary meeting? Or maybe we could create our own and use it STRICTLY for weight loss purposes. I don't want people to think we are becoming cliquish or anything!
BTW, the accountability thing, I absolutely love! We could all find like a partner on here that we can call, IM, or FM whenever we are having difficulty or need support and praise! Great Ideas as always from you Windy!

Re: I need some motivation... and some help!
I would love to get in on this too!!! I started WW soon after we got engaged with all intentions to beat the bulge (lol). I was going strong the 1st 3 months and now I've fallen off the wagon in the worst way. I get really sad over it because its my own fault I got this way and I DO NOT want to walk down the aisle feeling this way about myself. Whatever you guys decide to do, count me in!

Re: I need some motivation... and some help!
I just started WWOnline TODAY! I gained 20 lbs since 2004 (I was lifetime) and only kept 8.5 of it off But you gotta start somewhere... so I'm OK with it. I can't afford meetings right now, so it'll be online for awhile.

Re: I need some motivation... and some help!
I need some motivation myself. I gained A LOT of weight over the last 1.5 years. I'm simply disgusted with myself. FH and I are going to Disney and ive always wanted to go there 'looking good' Im always sweating death, cant wear shorts because of chub rub and my arms are too big for tank tops. I know some big girls will wear tight clothes and tank tops, and shorts and things, but I wont. I dont like look like a sausage. My trip is Oct 3 and at this point, I feel like I cant lose enough weight to look 'good'

Sora...some good motivation is knowing that you get to go shopping to buy an entire new wardrobe after your weight loss. I lost 60 lbs so far and had to buy everything new...it was great haha. I still have 25 more lbs to go (I'm of normal weight but want to be really fit for the wedding and for forever), and whenever it gets hard, i just think about those new stylish clothes i can buy!

Re: I need some motivation... and some help!
It's hard... believe me, I know. I've been fighting my weight since my early 20s (I'm in my 30s now) but WE can do it. I found the best starting point is to drink a lot of water... once I accomplish 8 glasses a day for 1 week I start with eating salads for lunch... once I accomplish THAT goal, I start with something else.
I break it into small micro managed goals... so that I don't feel overwhelmed... stating I need to lose 40 lbs seems impossible.... but saying I want to lose 2 lbs THIS week, isn't that bad.
I've mentioned it in several posts, but being accountable to someone helps me. Because I HATE to fail. My motivation (in the beginning) is to not let HallsLady know what a fat a$$ I am Once I get into a groove and I start seeing results then it'll come a little easier.. I expect her to get all up in my sh*& if I'm not doing what I'm doing.
Seriously, I'll help with what I can... feel free to FM. We'll be the hottest most awesome brides on LIW.

Edited for spelling. OOPs!
You're such a riot! You're not a fat a$$!!! I'm gonna be brave and put it out there. I am 5'2 and weight 170 pounds. I have a muscular build so come of those pounds are hidden well on me, but NOW it has some to a point where I feel the fat on top of my muscle and I hate it! But regardless I will be all up in your ish! and I expect to be up in mine!
edited cause I am a dumb azz that can't spell!

Re: I need some motivation... and some help!
I started WW online last week. I could definitely use some support group! I think weekends and going out to eat are the worst times.
As for the salty, chip like snack, try triscuits and hummus. If you want to go for less calories, slice up a pepper. I personally like the garlic or roasted pepper hummus....and they're the same amount of points as the reg. Also the 94% fat free popcorn and air popped, is a salty snack that you can have a lot of
