I need some opinions

I need some opinions

Little Background: My mom and FMIL don't get alongvery well. They are civil to eachother, but will never be 'friends.' When FH and I got engaged they never once offered to help my mom with the day of expenses, but they did/are paying for the e-party and the RD. Never was an explanation given other than 'We aren't paying for it, traditionally we shouldn't be'
Anyway, the invitaitons were ordered a few weeks ago, and my mom decided to put just her name. Possibly a little out of spite for the $$, but more so for tradition. She also didn't want anyone questioning why they weren't on top, but on the 'son of' line.
FH husband picked up the invites today and while I had told him what we decieded to do, he 'forgot' Little did I know that he TOLD them they would be on there, but never told me that. He said that FMIL is now 'going to be crushed' and so forth.
Mom said that if anyone has a problem to call her. The problem is that FH, and FIL's won't do that. FMIL holds grudges and this is one of those things that she'll hold against me.

Sorry that was so long, but my question is, what do I do? How should I handle this?
HELP!!
TIA

Sorry you're going through this.

I don't think that it's YOUR responsibility to do anything. You have enough to worry about planning YOUR wedding. If your FH 'forgot' then I think he should explain all of that to his parents. Why do you need to be involved?

I agree. And since your FIL's want to keep with 'tradition', well tradition it is then! They aren't hosting the wedding, therefore their names do not go on the invitation.

Tough one - I can understand your FMIL being upset because, although she is not hosting the reception, she is still hosting the RD and Eparty. So, it's almost a slap in the face that she is not on the invitation. I dunno. They are ordered already so I am not sure what you should do!

Sorry for the tough situation!

I agree with this! And I also agree that your FH should handle it. He's the one who mistakenly told them they'd be on the invitations, so he should make sure they don't blame you at all.

Good luck!

Too bad for your FMIL!! If she wants be traditional, when then the tradition is that her name will not be on the invitation other than '...son of FMIL'. She isn't paying!! Situations like this are so aggravating. I had the same thing with my FMIL, but she understood. Here is a website that gives variations of wording for the invitation when the bride's family is paying.
