i was just looking at patken teaser videos and every single video i saw of the inn at new hyde park the couple got married outside at the inn!!! I absolutely love the way the outdoors ceremony looks at the inn but in the end i decided to book with the church to have more time for pictures and incase it rains... after looking at these videos im starting to regret not having my ceremony at the inn... help!!

Re: i need some reassurance ladies
I never would have booked my ceremony in church if it wasn't important to FH. So if the religious part of the ceremony isn't important enough to you that you HAVE to have it in church, like my fiance, I totally would have gone with an outdoor ceremony at the Inn.

I feel the same way, I would love to get married at my RH, but I just felt like I had to do it the old fashioned way. A pro of having the ceremony at the church (for me, anyway) is that even people who are not invited to the reception can come see you on your special day. (I am a teacher at a huge school and already people who know they are not invited to the reception asked if they could come to the ceremony at the church).

Kinda going with what the other ladies said - is there a really strong significance for having the ceremony at the church? Religious reasons? Family traditions? I would weigh those out and then change it to the Inn - you can always switch it up.

Re: i need some reassurance ladies
I always dreamed of getting married in my church (and I am) but sometimes I think I'm wasting the beautiful May weather by doing a church wedding instead of outside.. Especially since I'm having it at the Inn and it really is a beautiful space outside.. BUT, if it ends up raining then your wedding would get moved inside anyway, so it's more of a gamble.. Don't stress it and stick by your choice.. Church weddings are beautiful and you get the best of both worlds cause you get to take pictures out there after.. You could recreate the whole thing through pictures if you wanted :)

Re: i need some reassurance ladies
for me I had to get married at my church....it meant a lot to me bc my parents got married there, and I just love my church, it has a huge isle, so for me it was an easy idea.
I think you made the right choice just in case it rains, I dont know if I would be willing to take that chance

Re: i need some reassurance ladies
I agree with the weather aspect...it forces you to get married indoors and not risk the weather...
also it allows you for more time for photos...since you can space out your ceremony and reception start time to give you extra time
due to religious issues FH & I cant get married in church...but aside from the religious aspect...it would help out alto and prevent us from having to see each other prior to ceremony...so think about that too
getting married at RH, you might want to see each other before to be able to enjoy CH and get enough photo time
just something to think about!
id stick with your choice if i was in your shoes!

I'm getting married in a church and having my reception a the Inn @ NHP. It is so beautiful there, but everytime I envision getting married it was always walking down the isle at a church. I wouldnt' second guess your decision. You can take beautiful pictures outside at the Inn after ceremony.

my parents would not be happy if i didnt get married in church. I also dont want it to be rushed by having everything at the hall.

Re: i need some reassurance ladies
well..is the church ceremony important to you? If it is, keep it.
If it isn't and the pics are more important, book the ceremony at the RH.
Doing the ceremony at the RH gives you way less time for pics after. You;d have to do them before if that would be ok with you and your BP.
Plus...the ceremony at the RH will be super short. basically you get up there, a few words...and its done..15-20 mins max. maybe less.

Re: i need some reassurance ladies
there was never any choice for me. i always wanted to get married in a church and i never had the urge to get married at the RH. but if your not very reiligious and you don't have to get married in a church - then switch!
