I need some Serious Advice

I need some Serious Advice

I'll try to make a long story short.
Ok, I don't know if I should invite my cousin and her husband and my Aunt (her mom) to my wedding. They came to my sister's wedding and all 3 of my cousins children were in the wedding party. We are really not close to them at all. It was a big thing having her children in the wedding. Example she wanted my sister to pay for their outfits. They were telling my sister were they wanted to be seated at the reception. I honestly do not feel close to them. The problem is I am going to invite my other cousin who is the brother and son of my aunt and cousin. But he is also not close to his mom or sister. Oh another thing is they didn't even give my sister ANYTHING.
Sorry so long. Just don't know what to do. HELP!!! PLEASE!!!!!

I am so sorry that you are in this situation. I think that you don't have to invite anyone you don't want to. IT'S YOUR DAY!!! If your cousin is not close to his mother and sister, then you definitely don't have to. It's your decision, and if people are going to be pissy, then screw them! It's your day!

Hope this helps!!

I personally think you should you are inviting her son. ( I understand they aren't close) But after all she is your aunt and cousin even if they are cheap or demanding.

I say, no, you don't have to invite them. My FH has some questionable cousins, and we're inviting some and not the others. It's a personal preference whom you want at your wedding. It doesn't sound like you care for them. That day should be filled with love and people you love.
Don't do it. If they quesiton it-because they sound like the types that would-say you only invited close relatives and immediate family. (even if it's not completely true) screw em' I say!

sorry the situation stinks....

i was thinking thought that if your aunt had a prob paying for the dresses for your sisters wedding etc....then maybe thats why she didnt give her n e thing.....its hard b/c its 'family' even if your not close.....i would ask for a little guidance from your family.....they might know best in this situation...sorry that wasnt more helpful!

I def believe it's your day and you should do what makes you most comfortable! If you need to cut people then start with them since you seem to not really want them there, but if you're looking to meet a minimum then I'd say invite them. Sorry you're in this situation, I understand the complexities. But you don't HAVE to invite someone just bc you're inviting someone else. Your relation to them is def a factor in whether or not you invite them. Just remember this is a big day. I was pretty close with my cousin but last year when she didn't invite me to her wedding but instead opted for co-workers she burned me deeply. I'm still very hurt about this, I missed out on seeing her on her wedding day and that makes me sad. Thank goodness now that it's my turn I'm being the bigger person and including her.

you should invite them if you are inviting the son/brother. We are talking about family here.

Re: I need some Serious Advice

I am not close to A LOT of people in my family. I think you have every right to be selective. some people may think it's wrong, but no one really knows your family dynamic. Surround yourself with those you love and care about, and those that love and care about you. If you weren't close to them before, inviting them will not bridge the gap, and if they feel slighted, it's no real skin off your back! JMO

Good luck.

They are your family I would invite them but not have them in the wedding party and sit them where you want. Even if they tell you where they want to be seated

as for the gift maybe she didn't have the money or anything since she paid for the childrens outfits.

Unless there'a reason yuo don;t like her/don't get along with her, as in she's mean to you or something, I think you just have to invite her. it'll probbaly cause a lot less aggravation than NOT invintg her will. She'll just be at the wedding, and if she doens't bring a gift, she doens't bring a gift..it *****, but you have to suck it up, i think. There will be so many people there you won't notice her and on the day of you'll be feeling so happy you'll be glad to ahve incliuded more people in your day
