I need some suggestions/ideas....

okay, so I'm getting down to the wire in my planning and wanted to get some insight from you guys..

okay.. as most of you know, I'm having an 'enchanted venetian masquerade' theme...

well, what I'd like to ask you is the following:

What comes to your mind when you hear or think about an 'enchanted venetian masquerade' theme?

OTHER than elaborate masks.. I got those already lol

I think of those people in the brightly covered poofy outfits, (sort of like clowns , I think) and I think of the Venetian in Las Vegas.

There are so many really pretty things with that theme....little sun/moon/star candles, picture frames...

okay.. so this whole theme business is unknown to most, if not all, the guests.. how do I break it to them? I was thinking of having baskets filled with the various masks and having the waitstaff at the hall kindlyask all the guests to take a mask and tell them that it must be worn before entering the ballroom? I also have a little excerpt that I really like and wanted to incorporate it.. how do I do that?and where? or should I save all of that for the table set up in the ballroom?

Since the masks have that elastic on it can't you have the little note tied to that and then have the MC make an announcement asking to place the masks on ..

I mean its a ball and have the MC say something as such!

The thing is: The cocktail room is ver ornate, as is the ballroom.. but the MAIN venetian masqu. decor is in the ballroom..

I like eroxgrl's idea.. I am doing a table assignment board and perhaps I should include the excerpt that I was going to use there..abocehte table assignment board...on the easle

I am still using bonbonierres (sp?) for all the masks.. not all of the are elastic.. half of them are on a stick.. and they aren't flimsy either.. they are all decorated with feathers and sequins.. very elaborate.. the bonbonierres can go on all of them..

it's weird cause the wedding in itself also has abit of moulin rouge to it, youknow? I actually want to use one of the songs on the soundtrack as the song when then guests walk in.. it's a real bloodpumping track.. dunno..

oh I also want to add that I'm not going to add it on the invites b/c not only are my invites already printed up.. but I don't want to let anyone know about it yet.. unless I through another card in there that says something.. hmm something that doesn't give it away, but that leaves them thinking?
