I NEED THE HANDS CEREMONY!!!

I tried to find the Hands reading but I am having no luck. I want to use it at my wedding even though I know i'll cry. I'm not a cryer but that just does it to me.

It is so beautiful. Does anyone have it or know where I can find a copy? Thank you so much girls!

Re: I NEED THE HANDS CEREMONY!!!

Here's the short version:

These are the hands of your best friend. Young, strong, and full of love for you, that are holding yours on your wedding day as you promise to love each other today, tomorrow, and forever.
These are the hands that will work along side yours, as together you build your future.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, and that with the slightest touch, will comfort you like no other.
These are the hands that will hold you when fear or grief wracks your mind
These are the hands that will, countless times, wipe the tears from your eyes. Tears of sorrow and tears of joy.
These are the hands that will tenderly hold your children.
These are the hands that will help you hold your family as one.
These are the hands that will give you strength when you need it.
And lastly, these are the hands that even when wrinkled and aged will still be reaching for yours, still giving you the same unspoken tenderness with just a touch

This is one version of the hands ceremony:

The Hands of the Bride and Groom

Reverend speaks
Kelly, please face Rich, and hold his hands, palms up, so you may see the gift that they are to you. (Bride and groom should be facing each other, his upturned hands resting in hers.)
These are the hands, young and strong and vibrant with love, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as he promises to love you all the days of his life. These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness. These are the hands that will wipe the tears from your eyes: tears of sorrow and tears of joy. These are the hands that will comfort you in illness, and hold you when fear or grief rack your mind. These are the hands that will comfort & encourage your children to be the best they can be. These are the hands that will work long hours for you and your new family, so that you may enjoy life’s successes. These are the hands that will tenderly lift your chin and brush your cheek as they raise your face to look into his eyes: eyes that are filled completely with his overwhelming love and desire for you.

Reverend speaks
Rich, please hold Kelly's hands, palms up, where you may see the gift that they are to you. (Bride should now place her upturned hands in the Groom's hands.)
These are the hands that are smooth, young, and carefree, that are holding yours on your wedding day, as she pledges her love and commitment to you all the days of her life.
These are the hands that will passionately love you and cherish you through the years, for a lifetime of happiness. These are the hands that will hold you tight as you struggle through difficult times. They are the hands that will comfort you when you are sick or console you when you are grieving. These are the hands that will hold your children in tender love, soothing them through illness and hurts, supporting and encouraging them along the way, and knowing when it's time to let go. These are the hands that will lovingly work to make your house a home. These are the hands that will give you support as she encourages you to chase down your dreams. Together, as a team, everything you wish for can be realized.

Reverend
Dear God, bless the hands that you see before you this day. May they always be held by one another. Give them the strength to hold on during the storms of stress and the dark of disillusionment. Keep them tender and gentle as they nurture each other in their love. Help these hands to continue building a relationship founded in trust, rich in caring, and respect. May Kelly and Rich see their four hands as a symbol of their everlasting devotion to each other and their

I know EXACTLY how you feel!!! My FH doesn't know why I want to include the hand ceremony when we're already having a long nuptial mass, but he hasn't read this yet! I hope he likes it b/c I LOVE it!

Here's is what he wanted to do.

-opening prayer
-hands reading
-vows
-exchanging of the rings
-unity candle
-announcement

I didn't think that was right.

I wanted
-opening prayer
-one reading
-vows
-unity candle
-exchange rings
-hands reading
-announcement

We are having a semi religious ceremony at the RH. What are your thoughts on this?

You're having a long mass? I'm having a very short ceremony at the RH. In what order are you doing things? Look at the post I wrote Dee. Thanks.

I think it sounds very nice. You will have a nice balance focusing on the religious aspect with the reading and then on the love that you 2 have with the hands prayer.

I am catholic & FH is jewish so we were going to have all that you mentioned but also a reading from the old test to represent the jewish part of the ceremony but I think I really really want the hands prayer even though it will be a looong ceremony if I include it.

Jiffy, my priest said my ceremony would be about 25 min & then throw in the hands prayer & it'll be 30min. I'm guessing yours will prob be the same.

I think you should include it even if it makes the ceremony longer. It's beautiful and you only get married once. Go for it! I think it will be the same. 30 min is really not a long time. I'm def going to do it. I just think I want to do it at the end instead of the begining. I have to talk to FH crabbypants. He's so picky about certain things. It's wierd.

OMG I cannot wait to do this..I think this will be one of the best parts of the ceremony, its just so beautiful. When Iw as home for christmas I explained to my sister what it was and just paraphrased the first few lines and she already started crying... definately a tear jerker!
