I need to clarify a previous post
I posted about how we were disappointed in some of the (lack of) gifts.
Here is my reasoning:
Many girls have started many threads on this site about how much people give as gifts. I wanted to offer a realistic insight as to what we really got. The most surprising thing was that the people who could afford the most generally gave the least. All I was trying to do was explain how people do not always give a gift in accordance to the hall or the caterer... I suppose they have a set amount in mind when they are invited to a wedding, regardless of the venue.
Personally, DH & I have never given any of our friends or relatives less than $500 for e-patries and weddings..... it is just a little token to let them know that we want them to start out right. You can imagine the shock my DH suffered when he saw what some people gave in comparison.... he thinks everyone is like us. It's just that simple. It is not meant to critique what people give, nor is it meant to supercede the wonderful gift of their presence.
I did not intend to create a whole arguement, I was just trying to be honest, especially for those who are paying for their own weddings.
As for the integrity and the sanctity of my wedding... the ceremony is not thee reception. I waited for 10 years to even begin dating my DH, and another 4 to marry him.... trust me, we did not get married to 'make it all back' we got married because we have truly been in love for a lifetime, and knew that we are meant to be together.
Sorry if I started any animosity, but please do not be so quick to judge.
