I need to vent...

I need to vent...

Before my wedding I told my future BIL that I wanted to introduce him to someone who would be at the wedding (she was in the bridal party as he was)...they met on their own at the wedding and hit it off, and then when he asked who we wanted him to meet, we told/showed him who and he was like GREAT job!!! She ended up going back her crazy boyfriend (she is 44, BIL is 50 and a lawyer)...Fastforward to today, she dumped crazy boyfriend in January and has been dating my BIL, and they are both soooo GAGA over each other, and everyday she calls me with the latest update of how great he is....and today I am sick of hearing it. I was so excited over this union, now I am like, I wish I never did this. I kinda feel like my life is not sacred anymore b/c she is coming involved w/ family things and SHE IS a best friend of mine. How come all of a sudden I feel threatened ? Hmmm..Anyway, I am soo done w/ listening to her lovey dovey stuff, i jsut pray the phone does not ring and then I feel bad b/c she is one of my dearest girlfriends!

I hear you! it's really hard when you're combining 2 different aspects of your life like frineds and family, of frineds from work, and other friends, etc... it's always really rough and I understand why you feel that way.. Just try to be happy for them!

sounds like she is in the 'honeymoon stage'....the beginnings of falling in love! the mushy part will be over soon enough....and who knows, maybe your best friend will turn into your SIL! I would love that.

it's very hard to mix friends and family. It's natural to feel as if your friend is too intwined with your family life and your family life is moving into your friendships. I'd say if they are rteally that gaga over each other, just deal with it and if it ends up working out she may become your family.
It's going to be a different relationship though but you'll adjust to the new relationship and find ways to communicate and be a part of each other's life.
Maybe you need to not discuss every last detail of your intimate lives anymore. I'm sure she is sharing all this with you because #1 you are her best girlfriend and #2 you know BIL better than any of her other friends.
You can only hope that they move on from Gaga to something more and then the 'over sharing' maybe won;t be as much as it is now.

that is something to be happy about, not mad about... You set them up and they are happy together, you did a mitzvah!

Ladies,

Thank you for Understanding!!! I know this is the honeymoon stage, and I was hoping she'd be my SIL eventually, but now, hmmm, not soo sure! But I am sure it will be----I guess that is why I knew they'd be good together.

once the honeymoon stage is over it'll get better. You should try to force the topic other ways in the meantime. i mean don;t be rude, but bring up other subjects, change the subject some what quickly, etc.

it'll take adjustment, but you should be able to get past this . . .

Well.......look at the bright side, wouldnt you rather her call you and tell you the positive things of the relationship than if their relationship went sour.

Its so much nicer to the ear to hear positives than negatives.......but I understand what you're saying....its still newlywed times for them--they're in their 3rd month of lovey dovey--and its exciting to want to share that w/ someone and that someone happens to be you.....
