I need to vent

Sorry, but I need to let it out!! So, today someone I know approaches me and starts to ask me about the wedding, like if we set a date and picked a RH and stuff.

So I tell them the date and they give me this look and start telling me how we shouldnt wait that long and blah blah blah. And then I give my reasons as to why we are waiting so long..and they had the nerve to say that it just sounds like we arent ready to get married!!!! ***!! My reasons are that we want to buy a house, FH just started grad school, I just finished grad school and need to get a permanent teaching job! We want to start off married life on the right foot.

So it gets better....I then tell them the RH. I love my RH and everyone I talk to is excited that I am having it there. Well this person had even more of a nerve than before to tell me how they went to a wedding there and absolutely hated it!!! They just kept going on and on about how they hated it. Ughhhh!!!!!!!!!

Seriously, do people think before they speak!!! I would never say anything remotely close to that to anyone!!!!!

No, people don't think before they speak. Good job on keeping a level head! ( I know I wouldn't have...)
Some people feel they are entitled to their opinion regarding your life. What they don't realize is that often they should keep these opinions to themself! Yur reasons for waiting are awesome, and I'm sure the RH will be the place of your dreams.

And I hope you aren't inviting this person...

Sorry you have to deal with that. I got it too, but I got it both ways- saying why am I waiting so long and then oh why are you getting married now so young. People don't realize we have our own reasons. And we dont have to share those reasons if we do not want to!!

Also, I dont know about you- but I probably would have yelled at them But you are entitled to the reasons you have and I believe your reasons are great! They are similar to mine. I am going to graduate grad school May of 2009- 2 weeks before my wedding And FH will be out of the Marine Corps by then. And on the other hand we want to get married young because we LOVE each other and why wait until we are 30 -no point!!!!

But Michelle...dont let people get you down that act like that. I know it is hard but just let it roll off your shoulder and remember them when it comes to making up the guest list!!

Wow, I really don't get people. I wish I could give you some insight since I'm a psych major but unfortunately all I can say is that people suck sometimes! I commend you for keeping your cool though. You're doing what you want for your own reasons and that's all that matters!

I have a feeling until we get to our under two year marks, we're all gonna be having lots of vents like this

Here are some hugs for you (and for all of us really):

Don't worry about that ignorate person. Listen, I got engaged last year and people was trying to tell me the same thing and my response was 'Until you are paying my bills and taken care of my children please don't worry about what I am doing, furthermore until you have on your finger what I have leave me alone' . Sweetie, you know how long your money goes so don't worry about the miserable ones.

If we had a nickel for every time someone responded with '09! why are you waiting so long!' this wedding would be paid for already! Two years is going to FLY by, why stress yourself out and have to rush for everything. Us 09ers aren't crazy!! You'll always encounter jealous people, don't waste anymore of your time being upset because of some jealous person!!

Sounds like jealousy to me!! And I would also like to add I went to a wedding there last year and it was beautiful!!

I know what you mean. I can't wait until May comes and I can say hey- only 2 more years!!! but Michelle- your 2 year mark will be here in a few short weeks

Sorry to crash - but I totally went through the same thing. I got engaged on 12/25/05 and am getting married on 9/15/07. Everyone kept asking me why I am waiting etc etc. Well, like many of you have already said, we wanted to get things done before we got married. Our priority was to buy a house and that's what we did.

The time went by really fast as it will for you too! I can't believe my wedding will be in about 6/5 months! Hang in there! Don't let those haters get to you!

Michelle i'm one of your FH friends. I'm getting married to Chris Connell. You are very smart for waiting two years. You guys definitely did the smart thing. Dont' let anyone tell you what to do. Next time ask them if they are going to help you pay for everything. i'm sure they will shut there mouth real quick.

OMG I just said the same thing. I am March '09 also, and I get the 'I dont understand why you are waiting so long' speach from sooooo many people lol. My mom and grandma always bring it up too. They are like 'when I knew I wanted to be with someone we couldnt wait to get married'.

Don't they think so do we? Or do they just not realize that its no longer $30 a person! And then my family has the nerve to say that I dont have to make a big production out of it and MAKE IT expensive. They got married in like a VFW hall. They think we could do that and get married sooner. Grrrrr Seriously? Why do they have to do that!!!!

LOL mini vent! Anyway I just told my sister that I can't wait until april so I could say its less than 2 years!
