I need to vent about Thank You's for second.....amI wrong?
Now, I love, love DUET HOWEVER......in my contract I get 100 Thank You's....so of course I need about 50 more (of course haha) but Duet wants to charge me THREE DOLLARS PER EXTRA CARD..... that is ridiculous?? I know being in the printing world for work that it DOES NOT cost 3 dollars per card....they probably get 50 overs of the damn thing!
I actually wrote back and said that is an extremely steep price & after what I've spent with you, I think it's unfair to ask that much...I'm already paying an additional 50 dollar design fee for the freakin things
Is anyone else in agreement?

I def agree...that is why I am kinda of on the fence about the whole thank you card thing. I'm afraid its going to cost me an arm and a leg to do them. Good for you for standing up to them! I hope it works out!!!

That's bull$hit!!
I guarantee that thank you cards cost them next to nothing to make, and they have the nerve to charge you $3 each!! Come on!! These wedding vendors really have some big balls. I'm so sorry! I'd be furious.

I agree $3 extra is RIDICULOUS. I'm sure it costs them less than $0.50 to print.

That's really expensive! I only had 80 TYs included in my contract so I just plan on going through Shutterfly or some other image site to get cheaper cards made.

I too work in the printing industry and you are so right about the overs! They are probably paying a few cents for them! That is crazy!!

That's too much. I wouldn't pay that. Do the last 50 yourself. You can print them up really nice and MUCH cheaper at Kinkos.

They are expensive...but the photographer retains the copyrights so doing this w/o permission is illegal...i know people do it anyway, but they could sue you if they want for copyright infringement...maybe they will let you take the image & print them yourself for a fee?

ya at that point make your own or get them done elsewhere. Its okay if not everyone gets the exact same thank you card.

Check in your contract if you get the RAW images of your pictures - they are yours to do what you please with.
I honestly think that is too much. Sorry. I love Duet too but that prices is nutso. I'd do my own through another site to save money even though I would like for them all to match etc. Maybe you can give the new 50 to close family and friends?

I, like you have worked in the printing field and that is a ridiculous price for to pay per card. I am so sorry that you have t deal with them. Did you speak with a manager?

Not true for the photos under all contracts. MOST photographer contracts state that you BOTH own the rights to the pictures. (Mine does)
There should be no problem in her designing and printing 50 cards.
If she copied their design, that might be a different story. However, she can print her own photos / photo cards if she wishes -- unless she has a very strict contract. Most contracts will state BOTH can use the photos.

is this really true? because I swaped out my Ty for an extra parent album at no charge and told them I would be making my own ty with a picture they are set to take at the beach, and they never mentioned anything!

$150 for 50 thank yous, with their already steep prices?!?!?!?!?!?! OMG, that is amazing, I would tell them to bring it down, or you will make them yourself!!!

Yes, all contracts are different...so check yours...if you can print them yourself than go for it! I just know as someone who does photography, it really stinks when someone just takes your image & abuses it.
Kodakgallery.com and Shutterfly.com both have some great card options to choose from!!
