I need wedding locations sources from you!

Hi There,
I just engaged. My fiancé and I haven't picked an exact wedding day yet, but we know it will be in the fall of 2005. We have no idea where to start this wedding planning. Well, first thing came out my mind is money. We don't have a lot money and we are currently living in CA, but we have to host this in NYC or somewhere around NYC because most of our families and friends are in Northeast area. I think I should start with to find out a cost for a general wedding, so we can plan how much we will have to spend. Costs of Wedding locating rental, Food and any others wedding related. Also, if any of you can provide any sources on any beautiful and affordable wedding locations that would be great. Thanks for all your help.

I just went to a wedding in Newport, Rhode Island - at Ocean Cliff- it is aout $75 a person i believe- and only one wedding at a time, right onthe water - holds about 200 people - if people are from all over North east -might be a nice location - there is a hotel there and lots around Newport - also OCtober is a nice time to visit- not as crowded -

Thanks for your info. We are more prefer in NYC or near NYC areas. We have relatives from over seas too, so that will make things easier for them too. It will be a small wedding, about 100 people.

Long Island will probably be less expensive than NYC. DO you have any budget in mind?

Weddings can vary GREATLY in price, so why don't you give us an idea of how much your budget is and how much you are looking to spend per plate and we can advise you better.

That is the question I need to figure out. I need find out how much it would cost for a small wedding in general first.

the prices can vary sooooooooooooo much!!! You're best bet is to figure out a budget and work from there. You could probably do a small wedding from anywhere between $5000-$40,000 depending on specifics (location, photographher, etc.)

you should probably figure out a budget first..there are places on long island that vary from 55 to 225 per person so it depends on where, when and what time of day..

You could probably have a very nice affair for between $10,000-20,000 depending on day/night, season and place. I guess you could spend a lot more, but you don't have to. If you want a Saturday in the fall, you may be looking closer to $20,000 + I hope this helps.

I read a few months ago that an average wedding on LI is about $35000... obviously you can go lower than that or much higher than that... I am assuming that a wedding in NYC maybe more pricey...
vendors also play a big role too... they vary in price sooo much as well...

This is overwhelming!!!
I am thinking may be just to have nice place (Garden or lake front) for our wedding ceremony during the day time, then go for a Chinese wedding banquet in the evening in Chinatown, so people can have tone of good food and party.
